I was passing and maybe hit 140 for a second.:(

Still illegal man... it sucks that you got caught... I've done it and got away with it... but you should have prepared for court a wee bit further ahead.

dc2696
oh I know I'm retarded I totally forgot b/c I have a criminal case i have to testify in this week and prolly next so I've been busy getting ready for that, (that murder on new years last year by st albert) but anyone have any clue as to what i can say do to get some demerits off? please help!

Jord@n
If it is in Edmonton courts I would recommend talking with the crown prosecutor. Your best bet is to explain the situation, be as honest as possible and ask him if there is anyway he can eliminate the demerits and if not ask for an increased fine w/ no demerits.

Other then that you could try to get the case thrown out but I don't know how.:dunno:

Good Luck!

For the record, I got my 60 over ticket reduced to 350 bucks by talking to the CP, that's all, no lawyers etc.

And Leduc courts are shit, I've never been but family/friends have and they are fucken bullshit! You won't get any reduction if it is not in Edmonton.

JustinL
I've always thought that if you were passing someone on the highway you would be able to talk that one down pretty easily. Yes it's illegal to go over the speed limit when passing someone, but from a safety perspective the less time you spend in the oncoming lane the safer.

If it was a divided highway then maybe not, but I think the safety card can go a long way.

dc2696
thanx guys I was passing on a 2lane highway so I'll try and work that in there, this will be at the westlock courts btw.

oh kiss your ass good bye.. heh... Westlock tends to be hard asses.. I got a ticket for doinf 75 in a 50... i was coasting into town with the engine off cause I ran outta gas, hoping to make it to esso... nope I got pulled over and ticketed. He got me right at the 50 sign. I then had to push the car to esso.

dc2696

That must have been one dick of a cop :smack: Guys like that deserve a stern talking to when they're off duty at the bar...

HeavyEarly87T
You have got to share with us...you have such an active live with all you have been through I think it would not be productive for you to internalize your current situation.

Consider us your venting group, a sympathetic outlet for you to express your emotions in a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere.

Really I just want to know what type of “Karmatic” punishment has been doled out to you this time.

Please note: I am fully aware that “Karmatic” is not a word but it just seemed to drop into the quasi intellectual feel I was trying to push.

Yup, was my first ticket ever and he was hiding in a Farm equipment sales lot. Basically got me from behind 2 combines. Should I add it was 2am friday morning... so no other traffic

dc2696
OK by popular demand I'll explain; First off my ticket said 11am (of course its the courts I knew it wouldn't be until later) around 2:30pm I finally get up for trial...last person there btw, the whole day ppl were being let off this and that, charges withdrawn if they "promised" they would not to see them there again (such bs) I tell them that all I want is a couple or even one demerit off my ticket and will pay a bigger fine if nessecary, I was told ok will see what we can do, by the time they get to me all the lawyers had left and I was going to have to represent myself...oh ya I know so much from tv so i got covered (haha j/k I knew fuck all and didn't hesitate to say), so the judge says the cop will say this and u have to just make me doubt that he is right even by alittle, I'm like ok w/e no lawyers here anyway guess I'll try...haha so I'm sitting there for 20minutes as this police officier list all the radar courses he has taken since 1974! over 100 courses! He actually wrote the manual used by canada to train new officiers on how to use them apparently, so I'm fucked and I know it, the only thing I got on him is he spelled tawatinaw wrong(tawaitinaw) so I'm like I can either say fuck it or try to figure something out, I go up and say that "this tawaitinaw place is not in alberta so how could i have gotten a ticket there?" the judge thinks for a second, I'm like cool this might work, his like "well your right I believe he has spelled it wrong"I'm like cool I'm off...then the crown says have u ever of TAWAITINAW? I'm like no its not a real place...he's like how do u know if u've never heard of it? I'm like tawaitinaw is not a place in alberta, hes says again how do u know if u've never been there? then says thats all, the judge crown and officier enjoy a good effing laugh at my expense which I did not appretiate, I'm like ur not serious...the judge says well I believe the officier meant tawatinaw and ur guilty bla bla bla...they all laughed after aswell I was like fuck you guys! and left, man they didn't have to be dicks about it, like I'm 19 I own/run my own bussiness and this ticket will cause me to lose my businness, like I told them this b4 I began and they didn't give too shits that I can't live with out my lisense and I'm fucked with over a 1300 a month in truck/insurance payments...so I'll be closing my business and going back to the rigs next month driving illegally...I don't give to fucks what anyone says about me driving either, illegal or not I have more bills to pay then most ppl double my age, so don't flame me over my "stupid" decision, what really pisses me off ids that i waited all day and drove out there for fuck all! man they were such dicks to me for some reason, everyone else all day long was getting let off and they were helping them with there trials, then i come up and they say bend over Dean, we know you've done this b4... :drama:  so ya thats pretty much my story and no i can't take a defensive driving course cuz i only had 1 demerit left and the ticket was for 4...they would help a guy out at all....:( :dunno: w/e prolly should have hired a lawyer...last time tickets didn't me shit for $500 though.

PraxGTI
I wonder if you can file an apeal on the ruling due to the fact that no lawyer was made available for you.

:dunno:

dc2696
I was told that aswell, I'm gonna find out tomorrow in moriville at least they give u duty cunsell.

SilverNeonRacer
You got nailed by tawatinaw? I never see cruisers there. down the road by the muskeg at nestow ya, the stretch between nestow and clyde... and at Rochester... but at tawatinaw? Wow he was lookin. Which RC was it?

dc2696
I got nailed there...a week later my brother got nailed at 157...and my uncle got nailed a week later at 142.....the judge wasn't impressed with my family record lol..but ya he(police officer) was coming back from A-town(athabasca) going to westlock....actually my cousin got a ticket there the other month...hmmm maybe the cop has a vendetta to settle with my family...:D

Jord@n
You should have showed up early to talk to the Crown Prosecutor. Then you may have avoided having to go talk with the Judge at all.:dunno:

95EagleAWD
Ouch... you got fucked by the judge hard man... Sorry to hear that.

You should appeal, and see if you can get a temp permit for driving to work and back.

A public defender.... for traffic tickets? :dunno:

SilverZ24
I don't get how 1 ticket means you have to close your business and you can't drive legally anymore. :dunno:

How many demerits was the ticket? 4?

yes, not everyone understands the legal system and its little quirks. You have a right in all court procedings to have counsel. Personally I would have called the points guys or whatever and let them deal with it.

true, and I was gonna call points but I thought I would be able to just get the demerits off and pay more or something, I've heard they usually do that...ohwell we'll see if I can appeal it.

curtis_rak
If you chose to go to court on a traffic ticket without a lawyer, why should the court be obligated to provide you with one?

Unless you have something arranged, the judge would assume you are representing yourself which, in this case, you were and your right to counsel was waived.

The Pointts guys would have been the best option, but it might be too late for that now.

JPPLAY
How many demerits do you have know 18?
