Finally i have gotten around to Updating my Resume! I cannont come up with a good strong work objective to start my resume. I think this is one of the most important parts in your resume, it must stand out from the others and be carefully word'ed!

This is where you guys come in play, theres alot of smart people on here that can hopefully Help me out!

I'm applying as a Heavy Duty Machanic (to various companys), Looking for a company to apprentice me, i have my own tools, looking at stayin with the company until i retire, looking for a company where i can grow and become a important part of them.

Whats a Strong way of saying that?!

I always give this advice: Your willingness to learn is much more valuable than what you already know.

When we hire people at my work, I don't care what they already know (though they have to be able to do the job); I want to know that they are flexible enough to learn new ways of thinking and doing.

Be honest with your potential employer. If you are willing to make a long term commitment, let them know. Make sure you set their expectations of you accurately, too high and you will disappoint them, too low and you won't get the job. There's nothing worse than finding the lies that were on the resume halfway through a job.

All of this is IMHO.

I've yet to see a resume from a highly skilled person that put "objective" on it.

Think about it for a second. Does the "objective" state anything that is not blatently obvious? Of course not.

The "touchy feely" aspect of the resume should be left to the cover letter, that is what it is there for.

You are getting some good advice already.

When I hire an individual I want an employee .....

1. Fast learner
2. Able to adapt
3. Skills to get the job done (ability to learn)

I have been known to even test job applicants on the spot.

You are in luck at this moment in time. Heavy duty mechanics are in demand. You should have no problem finding a position.

I suggest you find out who does the hiring and find out when they are in.

Take your resume. Ask to see that individual and show them you are motivated and want a position.

For the right individual I have gone and created space for them.

Good luck.

Apply at ACE on 118th. The way my companys trucks break down, they are already on the go almost 24/7.

Oh - and if you want to pick up resume writing skills, invest in a copy of "What color is your parachute" - it's a bible for resume writing.
