Who would of thought the world would want control of all the root servers.

I guess the U.S could just say 'No.... we own them.... come and get them if you want them'...........

Ahh crap.

That like the US telling Honda/suzuki/toyota that because they sell their cars over here they should have a head quarters over here(if they don't already)

I like being able to do what I want on the internet when I want, with almost nobody to tell me otherwise.

Time to brush up on the old hacking and decryption skills I guess.

Start pushin stupid controls over the internet, enough hackers will just shut it down.

The L0pht crashed national defense computers in the USA for a week back in 1998, as an example, just to prove it could be done...now piss guys like that off, and see what they do.

Right now if anyone wants to, they can monitor what any of you are doing on your computer, believe it or not. They can monitor what sites you are connecting to, what internet routes you are linked through, as well as which master server (the ones they speak of in the article) that you are connected to. There are programs on the internet that show every single IP address that you are connected to, those can then be broken down into domain names and/or personal IPs, so essentially all they need is your IP address and they can know everything you are doing on the net. Get a virus lately? Have adware on your computer? Depending on what you have every single key that you type on your computer could be going into a database right now, your online banking (which i refuse to use), your credit card info, your personal passwords and such.

Heck, if I had the password for the master servers I could log on (yes you can log on to the oh so powerful "master servers" using an old UNIX based telnet program).

The internet is not a secure place. I can even use an internet program to trace your IP address to roughly where you live (within about 5-10 city blocks). That in and of itself is scary enough.

Though most of this is common knowledge for people that know about computers and the net.

They are fun to read up on (the l0pht)

I've chatted with them for a while on thier old BBS server before
they got nailed.

Heck they claimed they could shut down the entire nations internet in less than 30 minutes. Between 7 guys, that isnt bad.

I am such a nerd :dunno:

Heh I know pretty much all of that you posted. Right now most ppl organizations can see what I do, but don't care.

I to used to do that kinda crap, I never did any major hacks. I did cause more than my fair share of server hickups. Back on 33.6, bu it's been a good 7-8 years. Once they Officially made that stuff illegal I pretty much stopped. The funny thing was back then the net was safer so to speak cause people had the mentality you could be hacked and cracked and generally fuked over. Now everybody thinks their safe, thinks they can't be hacked. Even with NAT routers ppl think they're safe. Quite often I remind my client's of this, that if a real hacker wanted in, they would get in. The NAT firewalls and crap stop the script kiddies.

Ahh I miss the good ol days... well cept for the speed.

btw it's Geek. Geek is a computer freek, nerd is a book worm. :P
