Yes!!! It is that time of the year again when we slap the winter tires and every corner is a good excuse to drift... :D
First event (of six) is scheduled for Sunday, October 30th 2005. This is an OPEN EVENT to non-members of our club. Tell your friends, neighbours, co-workers, etc...
Because we can't control the weather, this event runs regardless of the track conditions (if we can endure it). Pick your tires and let's go. In the past, we had winter events with perfect dry tarmac, snow covered track, ice patches, etc... and everybody had fun!
Members: $20.00
Non-Members: $30.00
Limit of Participants: 40
Registration open at Karelo.com - Click Here to register online!!!
October 23rd  is the last day to send me the info to get access to the base. If you don't make the list you won't get to the base!!!
If you can't do your registration online (or want to just spectate, please download the form from HERE and send it to me rx7events@telus.net
If you want to go, don't wait until the last minute to sign up. Send your info now to get access to the base.
Thanks,
Tracker

Ben
If you have attended one of our "Member's Only" events, I have your info, just send me an EMAIL (not a post here, not a PM) and I will reply back confirming your registration.
For the next event we will (hopefully) have another registration method that will solve all this problems!
Thanks

Apparently Online Racing is the ONLY kind of racing I am going to get this month...
Very few people from the club registered so far... are you guys waiting for something???
I don't mind having the track open for just a few people, but again, I want some competition!!!
Registration closes on Sunday @ 9:00pm.
Also, anybody planning to attend that does not want to register online??? So far, I've just received one (Ben) by email.
Please PM me or email rx7events@telus.net if you are planning to attend and didn't register yet.
Thanks

I would have been on this one sooner but I just had my car in the shop. And I had to remember my vin number ugh..
See you there!
Edit: I also wanted to ask what the procedure was for these, This will be my first Rx7 hosted event. Is it the same as the ASA ones? Do you need volunteers for anything? |

Hi Jon,
Nice to see you around! We missed you last season (after a very promissing start)
Our events are a little bit different than the ASA format, but we still abide by the Solo 2 rules. Our track uses the whole track loop and we just have people marshalling if we have enough people and the weather conditions allow for, otherwise we do "cone runs" to fix cones once people report them "mowed".
I will do a volunteer call Monday, once all registrations are in and I will let you know.
Thanks,
Tracker |

Hey Fernando!
I didn't know if you remembered me :p. I was hoping to be back but my suspension was just getting out of hand. And the brakes.. that is a whole other bag of...
I am glad to be back though! I'll be up for whatever just let me know what you need.
Edit: Also what is the deal with taking people for ride-alongs? Same as ASA? Are there club helmets? |

Hey Guys!
I've registered but don't want to pay online. Is there any other way if I decide to race? Any place to get a good helmet too?
Thank you
ps. What time should we be there? Will the security at the gate know who we are and tell us where to go? |

I am sorry but I don't have your registration. If you can't register online, please refer to the first message on this thread. Download the form and email it to me before Sunday!!!

PS. I will post all the instructions to get to the track on Monday
PS2. We don't have many helmets to loan. Better if you get your own. I got mine from Alberta Cycle (or borrow a motorcycle helmet from a friend. Make sure it is at least Snell 95 - DOT is not enough) |

Info for all Drivers
October 30th Event
Event is confirmed. We have around 23 drivers, which should give us around 10-15 laps each (more if the marshalling changeover happens fast )
- Bring your FRS radios!!! We will be broadcasting times as you finish your run, as well use them for organizing the marshalling. If you have a spare unit, please consider bringing it and lending to a friend.
- Gates open by 8:30AM. Be on time and help us start the runs as soon as possible. It might mean extra runs by the end of the day.
- To help expedite the registration and tech (paperwork, which we don't like to do) and go quicker to the track (drive, which we like to do) I will try to explain the path you should follow once you arrive at the event.
- Upon arriving at the main gate, you might need to stop and identify yourself as attending an event from the RX-7 Club. (don't park and leave your car, this is a drive-through gate).
- Follow the instructions to go to the Airfield gate.
- Park your car and go inside the control office. Identify yourself (with your driver's license) to get access to the Airfield. DON'T FORGET TO STOP ON YOUR WAY OUT TO SIGN OUT.
- Once you pass this gate, a volunteer will be waiting for you to do your registration. At this point you will:
a) sign a waiver for insurance purposes. EVERYBODY PRESENT TO THE EVENT MUST SIGN THE WAIVER, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT DRIVING.
b) Show your driver's License and car registration. If the car does not belong to you, YOU SHOULD HAVE A SIGNED LETTER STATING THAT YOU ARE AUTHORIZED TO USE THE CAR DURING THE EVENT.
c) Pay the fee if you haven't done yet. Cash only. If you are a member of our club, confirm your membership number and get a discount.
- Get the registration form, park your car on the pit area and go prepare your car (tires, clean up interior, etc...). DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS.
- Once the car is ready, go to TECH your car with your registration form (very important) and get a number assigned to EACH DRIVER. If you have more than one driver per car, you will be in different groups. There is a maximum of 2 drivers per car (exceptions apply). Numbers are assigned in order of attendance. If you have painted numbers or pre-assigned magnetic number, too bad!!! We assign the numbers as the cars are checked. It helps organizing and timing the cars. Sorry for the inconvenience
- Next step is the Driver's Meeting. EVERYBODY SHOULD ATTEND the driver's meeting otherwise you don't run. Once the meeting is finished, we would either walk the course (weather permitting) or drive SLOWLY through the course.
- Each set of runs is done by half of the cars (eg. 1-20) while the other half is MARSHALLING (eg. 21-40). On our events EVERYBODY works, otherwise we beat you with a stick and flat your tires... More details on the driver's meeting.
- Times will be broadcasted by FRS radio or FM Radio (88.1MHz). If you go to timing and keep asking your time after each run, you will be handed a stopwatch and will do timing until the end of the event!!!
- If you enjoyed the event, please consider staying until the end and help cleanup the track. The faster we do the cleanup, the later we can stay using the track for runs...
Thanks for you help.

Fernando, I thought at the last meeting it was agreed that club members could use their membership numbers. Let me know, because if that isn't the case, I'll bring some shoe polish instead of magnets. |

That's just for non-members. Members will be using their membership number.
Sorry about the confusion. In spite of that, we will do our best to accomodate numbers over 99 for non-members.

Some people were asking about how strict our tech inspection is. Well, it is as strict as it should be! :D
Our priority is everybody's safety at the track, so you don't want to find out that you have mechanical problems while negotiating a tight left sweeper @80Km/h.
Think about that, the last place I want to be is inside a car that drops a wheel because of a loose bearing...
Please check your car BEFORE the race, so if you need to fix something you still have time to run to Crappy Tire and get parts.
Here is the list with some comments:
-Battery metal Tie-down (no plastic, rubber, etc... METAL and the battery should not move at all)
-Fluid Leaks (I know I know, RX-7s leak. As long as it is not leaking on the track and during the inspection, that's OK)
No excessive wheel bearing play (Serious, don't even drive fast if you have that)
Tires in good condition (tread depth is not an issue. Tire cannot be cording or have gashes on the sidewall)
No Hub caps / Trim rings (remove all)
Static brake test (Pedal should not go down when pressed hard)
Accelerator return spring (accelerator should return freely once you lift your foot)
Loose articles removed (interior / trunk should be garbage-free: no CDs, pens, Tim horton's cups, etc...)
Seat belts / anchors (Seat belts should work as intended with proper anchors)
Muffler (not an issue at the base, but please respect your fellow racers)
Helmet (should be AT LEAST Snell 95/2000/2005 - Some motorbike helmets are just DOT and CANNOT be used - Check for label outside or inside the helmet lining)
Some things that are not required but it will be wise to follow:
Check your fluid levels: oil, transmission, brakes, steering, etc...
Top-up your tank: you will be surprised to see how much more your car "burns" when you drive it in anger! Also, because of the long fast turns, you can experience fuel starvation that can damage your engine or upset your car's balance on a crucial moment (making you spin and/or loose time)
That's all for now. If I can remember something else I will post it here
Thanks,
Tracker |

Well folks.. it looks like the weather is going to be cool for the event.. so make sure you wear your woolies.. The cool weather might be good for some ppls RX7s that don't like the heat.
There is also a chance of rain.. so keep that in mind with your clothing and tire selection :]

If it has a tether I think it will pass.. I
I probably won't be using my chasecam suction mount all that much tomorrow. I can probably let you borrow it for a few runs. Provided I remember to bring it in the morning.
