Okay guys, you all think you're so much smarter than the girls, can you figure this one out?
There are 3 guys who are renting a hotel for a night.
The price is $30 for one shared room.
Each guy pays $10.
In the morning the manager of the hotel tells the guys that they had a special promotion and that the room in fact only cost $25, and gave them the $5 change back.
So each guy took $1 for himself out of the $5, and left $2 to tip the housekeeping staff. (total, 1 x 3 is 3, plus 2 is 5)
So if each guy payed only $9 for the room for the night, 9 x 3 = 27. plus the $2 tip = $29.
Where did the extra dollar go?
:blue: |

If the total paid after the $5 change is $25, then each guy's accounted-for money is $8.33.
If they each took $1, then their inidividual total is now $9.33.
Multilpy $9.33 by 3 and you will get an answer of 28. Add the $2 tip, and you get $30.
Therefore, each guy paid $8.33 for the room, kept $1 and gave a 67 cent tip.
Only a girl would make that bad of a mathematical error  (kidding!) |

:blue:
That one sentence is the only part that is wrong and put there to confuse people.
It is not 27 plus the extra 2 bucks. $27 includes the 2 dollar tip. (25 for the room and 2 dollars for the tip) |

the question wasnt to divide $25 by 3 ppl, using the info provided u were supposed to decide where the extra dollar went
it proved they only paid $9 :D |

i was referring more to the fact that the men on here always bash womens' intelect or just women in general. Wanted to make them think a little bit instead of running off at the cock. :) |

no they paid $9 each.. the information in the problem states that. It isnt a math problem, its a logic problem. SilverZ24 cans see the loop, can you? |

wtf, i got this like in a second, maybe cause im majoring in accounting but....
why the hell are you adding 2 dollar tip? its like included in that 9x3 bullshit that was made to confuse 99% of the people. There is no lost dollar as 9x3 is really what their paying after but you dont add the tip, you add the 3 dollars they kept to equal the 30. The tip is not included at all!!!!!!! |

This is an old one. It is worded to confuse people, the math in the question is wrong.
nicely explained Mitsubitchy, Nice and simple to understand. |

Well I agree, there are quite a few members on here that aren't particularly open minded towards women but that doesn't mean we have to be narrow minded about gay marriage too!

we're saying the exact same thing in different words, you're including the tip in your explination and i'm not. i'm breaking it down to what each person paid for the room. was the tip on the bill? no i didn't think so.
therefore they each paid 8.33(repeating) for the room, each of them took a dollar from the 5, and they each left a $0.66....7 tip for a grand total of 27 bucks. 8.33333333333.. + .666666667 = 9. we're saying the same thing in the end, but i guess you have to have the last word because you started this thread. |
|
|
| mitsubitchy |
| Its not a math question, its just logic, so you dont divide the 25 by 3. Its just technically they spend 9 dollars cause of what they did with the other 5 dollars. |

Holy chip on the shoulder batman.
Don't be grumpy about it I was just telling you that math wasnt the key. |
