Renault stops helping Nissan... - Click HERE for Original Thread

...and starts turning them into a Japanese maker of French cars.

These are two new concpets put out by Nissan for the Tokyo Motor Show. Please feel free to share your disgust.

The Nissan Foria is a compact 2+2 coupé with a front-mid engine and rear wheel drive, which is explicitly communicated in the cab-back styling. Access through the B-pillarless apertures invites comparison with the Mazda RX-8, as Nissan attempt to appeal to the aspiring everyman. Despite the parallel concepts, a three-box body and more masculine styling distinguishes the Foria, putting it closer to what a small Lincoln could look like, with sheer surfaces and a horizontal theme.

Inside, the styling is more organic, and the door trim is comparable to the Mini Traveller concept, whereby all features are contained within an ovoid graphic. Though aspects appear familiar, the Foria tidily combines zeal with rationality.

(talk about lack of an original thought. I can probably pull every single design feature on this Foria from a Lincoln, Audi, and Saab concept within the last four years)

And for the ultimate in ugly... (as if the Quest wasn't bad enough)

Nissan Amenio

The Nissan Amenio is a large MPV proposal that advances the company’s ‘Modern Living’ concept. Despite cuboid volumes, surfaces are confident and dynamic, with a break in the shoulder behind the driver’s door similar to the Citroën C-Sportlounge concept.

Inside it is gentler, the design focussed on providing a relaxing journey for the six occupants. References to aeroplanes are often made by car companies justifying expensive minivans, and Nissan is no exception, except in this case the claim seems completely unreasonable: the front four seats are huge, with incorporated leg rests and trim that extends under the calves for optimum comfort when travelling. Though intended to have worldwide appeal, Nissan still infuses Japanese DNA, using the rosewood on the IP, while subtle contrasts in trim textures help substantiate Nissan’s premium-market goals.

(has anyone here ever seen the Renault Megane, or Espace?)

Squares and ovals?! Who is the car designer that thought it would look good?

Why the heck did they chrome the window frame? You don't want to draw attention to the ugliest line on the car...

Well, it is the Tokyo show. 90% of the concepts there are hideous. But these apear to be actual product plans. They aren't so outrageous that you know they'll be dismissed as playful design studies at first sight.

Some of the truely ugly designs from Tokyo that will never be seen on the street, which the designers are fully aware of.

Suzuki Ionis

Nissan Pivo

Mitsubishi Concept-D:5

Chrysler Akino

And to put it into perspective, these are the latest French contributions to the Frankfurt Motor Show. Justin, this should answer your question about inapropriate use of chrome.

Citroen C-Sportlounge

Renault Egeus

Peugeot Moovie

I don't even know what this one is called, but it's a Peugeot pickup concept.

And the Geneva Motor Show.

Renault Zoe

Citroën C6

Just do a search for Citroen/Renault/Peugeot concept and see what you come up with.

LOL they should just fit this thing with a rigid roll cage and give the occupants helmets and HANS devices, that way when they get hit by am Esclade they just get punted and bounce and roll to safety!

5 more days until the GT-R concept is released. That's five solid days for everyone to speculate what the drivetrain will be!!

I don't think the enthusiast market will let them get away with anything short of AWD. They already have it, the G35X Sedan. It will fit in the coupe perfectly, the only thing available @ the moment is Automatic however. Shouldn't be too hard for them to develop a manual tranny, probably a 6 speed.
