Hey Kris,
What's going on with you and all your tickets? I try not to park near fire hydrants for that purpose, also incase there ever is a fire. As for regulation length that info may be in a learners book. I got a ticket for parking in an ETS zone many years ago. The ticket was $50.00. I was parked a good 70 feet outside the zone. I just paid it and went on with life.
I have not heard of getting a ticket like that reduced. I would say for $50.00 and no demerits I would pay it. It would cost you more to fight it if you hired someone or if you needed to take time off work.
Next time just be carefull!

| they wont reduce it but you can definatly go in and ask for like an extra months time or something and they will almost for sure give it to you |

| Ha-ha, ok ill go and pay it. But I’m sure that 10ft is enough for them to get to the hydrant in case of a fire...like 5ft will make that much of a diff...My 2 cents....oh well this topic is done, thanks for input. |

I am assuming that the charge is under an Edmonton Bylaw?? If the ticket was written under the USE OF HIGHWAY AND RULES OF THE ROAD REGULATION - Section 44 (i), the fine would have been $57 (& yes the distance is within 5 metres of a hydrant). The bylaw; however, may reduce that amount to 3.2 metres??
As far as reducing the fine - I'd have to agree w/ the other members who have replied & would say that the $50 would pretty much be the lowest amount they would look at & yes I'd also have to agree that they should give you lots of time to pay.

Well, I did a little research & found that the Bylaw - Sec 620 (f) states the distance as 5 metres ??????

If you're lucky, and their not in a hurry they will pull...
if not they will break the glass and pass the hose through the newly opened windows...
but you gotta be like RIGHT in front of it for that to happen |
