Modern
Reflections

Also Doug's Place.

I had some work done by Reflections, pretty happy with it :)

Seriously, great place.

R&S Bodyshop on Calgary Trail North. It's owned by Sun Toyota... don't know why they just don't name it Toyota Bodyshop or something like that.

Ask for Dayton and tell him Wilson sent you. They do great work and don't cut any corners.

In Edmonton, the bodyshop with the best international reputation and recognition is Doug's Place.

lol, i take it you work their

Actually no, I have many friends who have gone through the restoration process with classics. Doug's place has proven to do the best work and provide good customer service. One fellow is a frame tech at a bodyshop other than Doug's and he also recommends Doug's for the body work

How come they can't be bothered to bring in show cars / restorations to shows like Joey's? I've yet to see a Doug's Place car compete with something that came out of Joey's.

I don't mean to flame you, but, when you say the place has a "international rep", you need to back that up. Mag covers? awards? show cars?

I'm looking for a good paint and body place too. Last time I got a few good recomendation t a shop. After waiting for over 2 months, the fitment of the panels and the lights where terrible and there was a huge flaw/discolouration.

My experience is that this happens a lot in shops where the people doing the work are less experienced. The shop itself may be large, however with a large shop means a lot of apprentices, which means low quality.

My buddy had his car fixed at a very large shop here in the city, and his lights/hood did not line up and his fender had more orange peel than if I painted it with a spray bomb. The sad part is, they let it out the door like that.

He took it back to get fixed, and in my opinion it's still not 100% lining up properly. Now, I might be a bit picky because when I do the work I won't let it go at 90% good. But the quality control at large shops is nil....If I can do a better paint job in my garage than they can do at their shop, there's definetely something wrong.

I would recommend searching out a shop where there are only a few older, more experienced people doing the work. I've witnessed one shop where all the metal work (Restored a lot of older cars, so welding quarter panels and such) was done by one guy, body work/painting by another. They turned out some of the highest quality paint jobs around, and they used the simpliest, old school methods around.
