Autocross & Road Race suspension setups? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Nightstalker
I am looking at different suspension setups for my EG si coupe.. I was wondering if anyone had any experiance building a EG (or DC2 as they are pretty close to the same) for autocross or road racing. Or for that matter just knows alot about what I should be looking for in brand name and ajustablity.. Basically what I am planning (kinda long term but thats ok) is to build a balanced car that will preform best in a road race enviroment.

From what I have read it seems that a lot of racers (actual race not drag) seem to favor the Tien coil over kits. They are high priced but I guess its likely you get what you pay for.. If I am not mistaken Spoon actually uses the tien ajustable coil overs on there cars.. so it can't be a bad thing right ?. Besides the fact that when set up for racing the car could shake the teeth out of your head on a normal road.. Here is a list of things that I would like advice on..

Coil Over kit (or a setup of ajustable dampeners and springs)
Camber kit
Strut bars
roll bars
chassis braces
upgraded contol arms

The car will likely have a b18 swap so its going to get a lot more punishment then it would with the little d16 is has now.. I am also looking for a 2 inch drop for the car because of the fact Its going to have 17inch rims and I don't want it to look like a monster truck. Something based on a real proven race car would be great.. anyone know what the Realtime Racing DC2 integras were using ?

I am not the right guy to help with names of product but i would like to share my 2cents. i have done lots of autocross and am now moveing into road racing and I tried to autocross my road race car and the suspension rates are way to high for autocross. so if you are building a street car to autox dont spend the huge cash on the race suspension you would do better to buy a high perf street setup. my rx7 turbo race car has 450lb springs front and 300lb springs in the rear. also has koni race shocks and suspension tech swaybars all adjustable. works awsome on the track but at the slolom was way too stiff.... good luck on your project and if you need info on road racing pm me or call we need more racers... you can see my cars and some we have built at

Well, I am not 100% sure if I am going to wana use the civic for road racing at this point.. I was thinking about buying a second car if it gets to that point because I am pretty sure that I don't wana be putting my Daily driver at risk on the track with other cars at the same time.. But thanks for your imput. Gotta get in some race school time and get the skills down, no matter how much GT3 I play I know that its just not the same as real life experiance :)

B) trust me on this once yoou hit the track for a school you will feel the excitement but in a race with 20 or 30 cars!!!!!! there is nothing like it..... with my turbo rx7 we were hiting 135mph on the front straight and over 105 mph on the back!!!! what a rush, good luck with your project. see you at the track. PS: red lines are for sissys :gay:

The civic is a long term project to.. I would hate to have to limit the modifications because or race regs =).. If I get really into it I will spend the money and get a real sports car to use =)
