I was thinking that after i sell my prelude i wanted to get a Turbo Supra. but this guy i was talkin to said that the turbo supras are just a disaster waiting to happen. I am just wondering if anyone has had a supra that they didn't like and if they had turbo problems. There is this non-turbo i am thinking of getting it has about 167xxx kms and tis mint and jsut putting a turbo on it but i just wanna know if i should stick with the N/A engine or the turbo!!!

They're expensive as hell o_O mostly because there's, like 5 in all of Alberta. Can't really comment on the reliability though. But I would suspect without any major power mods and modest boost they would be pretty reliable. They are Toyotas after all.

theres a lot of them around. are you referring to the mk4 or mk3?

disaster waiting to happen? someones feeding you a line cuz they don't like toyotas i guess. i find them to be very reliable for a sports car as long as they aren't bagged.

more info is what i need to tell you about specific problems that you may run into.

Hi Ludex,

Some Supra's are better than others. By that I mean depending on what make you purchase. If you purchase a MKIII there are things that do go wrong with the car. Like any car, if driven it will need repairs. The think to watch out for in a MKIII is the headgasket and hidden body rust. Asides from that they are a good car. There is alot of potential for these cars, and modifying them can be done fairly inexpensively if you know where to locate parts for a good price. I currently have a 91 MKIII Turbo Supra.

The turbo engines seem to blow head gaskets quicker than the non turbo ones. Reason why is you have more air pressure in the engine from the turbo. One thing to watch out for with the turbo is having the turbo go on you. I have gone through 2 turbo's in a month, but mind you I was not driving my car lightly. :D

If you plan to do a turbo swap there is a lot involved. It is not a simple plug and play. You may want to look at other engines to put in there if you are going to replace it! :D
