Hooking up 2 moniters - Click HERE for Original Thread

Kirill
How would i go about hooking up 2 screens to my computer?
Not to display the same thing on both moniters, but to have them as on big one.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the only way is with a video card that will support 2 monitors.

You can check if it supports dual monitors by looking for 2 of the monitor cable plugs on the back of the computer.

true story. ^^^

you can get some pretty kick ass dual display desktops that are like panoramas.

my laptop only has a mini-DVI out, but it can do dual and mirrored using an external and the built in screen.

with a tower though... don't think a splitter will give dual.

Kirill
hmm, anyone have anylinks to what i'm supposed to look for, as i have no idea, i saw it on a comp, and now i want it.

Thanks.

you can add a cheapie PCI video card to your computer and use it as the secondary display if all you want is a big cheap desktop. just don't try and play games on the secondary one.

SilverNeonRacer
Windows XP under the right circumstances will support up to 10 monitors.. or was it 7.. ahhh I can't remember and don't feel like looking it up.

Shoot my laptop had the built in 17"W LCD, a DVI, SVGA, and S-video out.

If you want duel monitors in a gaming environment, get an SLI mother board 2 PCI-E gaming cards and just don't SLI them.

Kirill
fuck ya, what card did you use? Any problems?

SilviaDrifter
ummm im using a Nvidia FX5200 with dual view

u can set it up differently like have monitors horizontal or vertical...have it stretch right across or jus ahve a clone monitor...its really coool...the only problem i have and its beacuse i am ghetto is that one monitor is 19inch and one is 17 inch ahaah but other than that i love it having two browsers up at once or doing two things

SilverNeonRacer
At work I run 2 19" lcd's on I think it's a duel head radeon 9200, works fine for office apps and stuff.

Depends on what your current motherboard supports. If you have 1 AGP slot with a card in it, just add a second PCI video card as mentioned. There are compatibility issues with dual displays so unfortunately alot of times its trial and error to find out what will work together. The newer stuff is getting better and AGP is supposively supposed to be replaced by PCI-express
