Reflux you like the performance of the 2nd gen over the 3rd gen? If so, why? Just curious.

My fav is the RUF CTR-2 Sport.

REFLUX
RXAGENT: i guess i didn't mean STOCK performance, it's just that, if i got a 2nd gen i would be more willing to modify it to greater extents as opposed to a 3rd gen
i also believe the 2nd gen is a lighter car? not sure on this one but i could just be talkin from my ass
correct me if i'm wrong

correct me if i'm wrong
I see, I guess that makes sense, the 3rd gen can get really complicated when modifying it heavily. Although, one you've rode a 3rd gen, you'll never look at your 2nd gen the same again=). The 3rd gen is lighter than the 2nd gen by about 200 lbs. The second gen is the heaviest out of all the Rx-7s, kind of frustrates me with my 2nd gen, but it's still pretty light, weighing at around 2990 lbs.

REFLUX
RXAGENT:
so the 2nd gen is the HEAVIEST of all the RX-7's?
well guess i was wrong then hehe
so besides weight, how is the ride different in a 3rd gen as opposed to a 2nd?
HP difference, weight diff
is it more responsive? smoother ride?
& you say you have a 2nd gen RX-7, what do you do in the winter?
cuz it has always stumped me to how you RWD ppl avoid 360's in the road

Alpha Gangsta
I drive slowly and avoid hard acceleration as much as possible.
no problems so far.

REFLUX:
Yup, the 2nd gen is the heaviest, kinda depressing but I just don't think about it hehe.
Well I haven't had the honor in driving a 3rd gen yet, I just got to ride one once, and the only thing I could really pay attention to was how fast it was =). You think you're going fast, all of a sudden the 2nd turbo kicks in, then you're going really fast =). It's a big difference, esp since I only have an N/A 2nd gen. I know that the handling is alot better on the 3rd gen. I'm pretty sure that the 3rd gen is better in all aspects, except maybe reliability.
I drove my 2nd gen last winter with no problems, just had a set of 4 arctic alpine winter tires. Then again, winter was mild last year. I won't be driving it this winter though, I'll be bussing and borrowing mom and dad's car. I'm still looking for a winter beater, but no luck yet.

REFLUX
#### it never really occured to me to get a winter beater
i mean i've heard of it & such, but i always thot it was only for ppl who "LOVE" their car
guess not
RXAGENT: wat kind of winter beater r u looking for? 1983 Honda Civic Sedan??? haha
1 thing, during winter storage of your RX-7, is there any kind of "storage" maintenance you have to do? do you have to drain any kind of fluids & such??

Well I guess I love my car hehe.....but I would drive it in the winter if I could, just seems to fragile.
Winter beater? Anything that runs fine, has a heater and won't leave me stranded, oh good on gas too. I don't even know what an 83 civic sedan looks like hehe.....
I'm not sure what I have to do since it's my first winter storing it, I'm going to find out at the RX-7 club meeting next Tuesday.

I think the Silvia Spec R (something like that) is similar to the skyline. Its the 240sx with a toned engine. The car is pretty fast in GT3-A Spec.
My favorite is the Mitsubishi 3000GT Vr-4. Ever since they came out, they looked nice(even for a 1991 model

KingKiong: then i'm sure you've seen the white then?

Really? There is one in Edmonton? The only Mitsus I've seen in Edmonton is an Eclipse (near my house) and a Galant sedan (close to my old house). So there is a 3000GT in Edmonton. Hmm....that's cool. Sure its not a Stealth?

REFLUX
oh believe me it's not a stealth, i've talked to the owner
& believe me wen i say it's not a stealth, i've THOROUGHLY gawked at it inside & out
VR-4, chrome 17 inchers (pretty sure they're 17), beige leather interior

TurboBlueNX

I've only had my car one winter adn the most it was driven was around the block once the engine heated up, about once every two weeks.

My experience with storing the car for 6 months is you have to maintain the battery.... :| Turn it over and let her run till she's warm, but don't do this too much or you'll carbon up the engine, idleling isn't good. I had a full tank of gas in mine that I more or less used over the 6 months, and all the fluids were otherwise topped up.

I don't what else to suggest... ask the guys on edmontonrx7.com

This year, the car has no oil, antifreeze, or gas in it.... it's theft proof :) Although I've heard that wrecks the engine, I'm not sure and don't really care yet, It gets a new engine in the spring, unless I buy a diff. car.

Goodluck guys

One of my favorite cars is a Shelby GT500. I almost bought a 1969 Shelby GT350 a couple of years ago but the $45,000 price tag was just a little much.

ManHunter
I have to go with the TVR Tuscan S (or even the Tuscan R, but that's kinda out of this world). Unfortunately, our nice government decided TVRs can't be imported.

That's by far the most bang for the buck, I think.

cflude
Lotus Ellise for me, simple and nice looking

Any 2 seater Z car from 1970-200? :) I prefer the 2 seater ovr teh 2+2 because I think the 2+2 looks a little too elongated!

Old school skyline, beautiful classic (check out this months Super Street)

more attainable, probably a 70ish 240z. Or 2 door datsun 510 with a rotory in it Awsome looking cars.

supra would be cool. but the ultimate for me would be the "ultimate celica" prototype. 500hp awd, killer looks, and toyota reliability. never hurts to get an italian supercar, but "realistically" i'd dream of toyota....hehehe
