Talon was run over by a semi today.... - Click HERE for Original Thread

Not happy...

Sitting in 99th and 31st ave today... A semi in the left lane. We thought nothing of it at all. Another guy was driving my car, so I was sitting shotgun. We're trying to turn northbound onto 99th street. Then buddy in the semi starts making a "wide right turn"...

...

RIGHT INTO MY FUCKING CAR!!!!!

...

Guy driving starts honking, but the truck driver can't hear us. We both turn and look over our shoulders as the trailer looms closer, closer... both give a nice "Ohhhhhh, FUCK!" and we duck.

CRUNCH!

Truck stops. Drivers side is under the trailer. I'm steaming fucking mad. Passenger in semi gets out. I get out from my side.

First thing out of my mouth: "Holy shit, buddy, you can't fucking see me here!??!!"

I was totally lost... so pissed, yet unable to do a damn thing about it. After about a half hour of bullshit, he finally backed the semi off my car, and thank God, but it's driveable. Totally fucked, but drivable. So we go to Millwoods EPS station to make our report. Turns out truck guy forgot his trailer registration and his Tractor registration was out of date. The cop looks at him and she goes: "Jeez, I should give you a ticket for this too..." :D

We did all the paperwork BS, and she (the cop) said that the trucker will probably be at fault, since it's his responsibility to make sure his "pinch zone" is clear all the way through the turn. There was no turn signal, no "this vehicle makes wide right turns" decal on the back of the truck. We thought he was going left because he was way over in the oncoming traffic lane.

Fucking douchebag. By car is totally wrecked now... I'll have to see if insurance will fix it, or write it off.

Here's couple pics, too....

Grrr... needs a new left rear quarter panel, new sideskirt and new roof. Probably an alignment as well, since he pinched the rear left wheel a bit too...

Jesus, I'm pissed right now....

bigmack000
that sucks man how it works out

BlueTurboEGG
I feel for you man.

Hope everything gets worked out to your advantage.

Markgase2000
:( well at least your safe! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

TrevorK
I've been in a similar situation where the trucker took the right hand turn lane right into my father while I was with him. Our mighty tempo stood up well against the semi, around $5000 of damage (Back in the early 90's yet).

The semi will definetely be at fault for this.

That being said - your talon looks like a very easy fix. It's just a little body work, should take a guy a weekend to fix it up and then another day, at most, to paint it up. I'd estimate if I were to do it myself, $400 in body supplies. Probably a little more if I decided to just paint the whole car to get a good colour match...

If the insurance company let's you buy the car back, consider it. You could probably sell it rather easily in it's current condition to someone like myself who would fix it up and make a couple hundred easy dollars.

95EagleAWD
The car isn't getting sold no matter what. I'll fix it somehow. Sentimental value, here :D

We'll see what the estimate comes out at... :dunno:

DelSoln
Damn man sorry to hear. I hope his insurance totally covers your losses.

CanuckDave
damn! thats sucks man, good luck getting everything sorted out.

ive had some close call sat that corner and others. I used to work there, and trucks would come left off parsons.99th and id have to scoot in reverse with a hand on the horn. they are always like "what??" and then im always like fuck you get off the phone, and put a good steel-toe hoof-mark in his fuel tank as a reminder.
btw. they all have numbers that you can report on and complain, which helps weed out the mail-order licenced drivers.

S2000_rider
Glad to hear your okay which is obviously most important.
Damage is bad but it appears to be just cosmetic. Structural and mechanical damages migth have made you think twice about keeping it.

95EagleAWD
Nah, I don't think there's anything structural done to the car.

I'll get an estimate on Monday after I call my insurance company...

I should've called the "how's my driving" number on the back of the truck...

86SilverFox
wow glad to hear no injuries, i always think that its gonna happen to me. i love how they all complain about us cutting them off and they do things like this. truck drivers are idiot, well most of them.

Buddyworm
 Ho.Lee.Shit! At least you're still in one piece.
