Through construction zones and when there is an emergancy (Police, Fire, tow truck, etc...) vehicle on the side of the road.

There are details to this - do a search on google. Takes affect Oct .31

So who was the guy that figured cutting back half the enforcement out there and simply doubling fines was going to be the key to sucess. As if 1 accidental ticket wasn't something to potentially cause a younger guy like myself to not afford driving in the first place....

ANOTHER increase?? WTF?? :dunno:

its just in construction i think (i hope to god) becuase lots of workers are really scared about careless drivers that tear through there while the workers are jsut trying to do there job safely

I have no problem with fines in construction zones, but then I think that they should be more proactive in taking down the signs and such. How many times did I drive down Calgary Trail at a snails pace and there were no workers to be seen, on a Sunday morning. I think people get so conditioned to think that there are no workers when there are signs, that they do not care. And I would argue rightly so to some extent.

^ i agree with that

I drive through that section of CT every morning I work, and I rarely see workers out at all. It's the same in Terwillegar around 23rd and Rabbit Hill road.
I hardly ever see enforcement, but doing the 70 limit on a workerless road that is probably capable of at least 110 is ridiculous.
Enforce it if workers are there, otherwise, if the road itself is not dangerous, leave it at the normal limit.

Here is a link to the new legislation regarding the decrease of speeds as of October 31st, 2005.

Jimbo, being the helpful sort that you are, and putting up with so many posts that are so silly in my opinion, can you shed dome light on my post a couple up?

Is there any rules or such for the city or construction company regulating these signs.

I understand the logic of keeping the signs up if te road is "under major repair" and limits regular driving, but if the limit is for "worker safety" then can we not do something to limit the silly speeds (my perseption) at silly times.

I see this as making things safer too, as if there is a sign, I know there are workers, thus I slow down. In oppose to there is a sign, I don't slow down as 9/10 times for the last 4 months there has been nobody, and this is that lucky 1 out of 10 time that a worker gets clipped, god forbid.

People I think are suffering from habituation in this, they see the signs so much for no percieved reason, and thus pay no attention to them.

That is my long post....Cheers for now.

Matt

Edit: I read teh FAQ on the link about workers present, but I do not know what this applies to, am I to assume that the signs are not in effect if there are no workers?

Edit 2: After reading all the FAQs it seems as if they sign is there, you have to slow down.

well im glad its just a double in fines for construction zones and safety vehicles

Black Jack
I thought it was applicable on all photo/laser radar, everything. If its jsut the contuction zones I can definatly respect the change. Assuming they do cover and un cover the sigsn accordingly so it is known when workers truely are out there, I don't really see the harm, just a bit more enforcement where it counts.
