honda jdm wiring help - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hiro
Hello guys/girls,

My friend ordered a jdm b16a to put into his civic, its a 92 dx. Anyways If anyone could help out with wiring it up, or give me some info that would help me out a lot. As you know the wiring harness on jdm engines are switched because of the left right hand drive. What I need to know how to plug them?
thanks in advance.

Wookey
use the stock wiring harness thats in his car already. everything is plug and play except for the vtec and knock sensor if i remember correctly.

Hiro
So I don't have to cross wire? I can just plug the passanger side wiring with the engine passanger side's wiring despite that they are switched?

Hiro
bump need more help please

Moved to the the tech forums. FYI - a lot of the more knowledgeable users of 780Tuners will not go to the General Chat. If you seek words of such, please post here.

Even though the JDM car's OEM wiring harness would be ass backwards in your car, the engine still sits in your buddy's car the same exact way as it would in the donor car, so as Wookey said, eveything is plug and play.. All the plugs on the engine where the harness plugs into are in the same place in regardless of which side of the road the car drives on. You just have to run a wire to the VTEC soleniod and to the knock sensor. Try and Find these wires on the harness, but if they arent there, just run them straight from the ECU (assuming the engine came with an ECU of course... :fingersx:) Here.. I'll post a link that might help you (as soon as I find it again) I had to do this in my car a few months ago when I swapped a JDM B18C into my '92 hatch.

Good luck!

Go to honda tech and look up the pin outs and wires that you need to add.

k... This is all I could find in a hurry.. hopefully this will make some sense to you. first off, here is a link http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/5gtech/index.html and at the bottom of the page there is a picture of where to run wires from the ECU if you have to. Keep in mind that you will need ECU pins to run wires from the ecu if they did not exist before. Oh ya and if you get a wiring harness from a 92-95 si/ex you shouldn't have to run any new wires.. (in case you would rather do it that way, but its gonna co$t)

Yeah I usually do that but in this case, only about one out of a hundred threads are actually useful.. most of it is guys who keep asking the same question over and over and then wonder why no one answers them..

Here, This is is what I use as a referance.

C-Speed Swap DIY

This is for a C1 but they are basically the same.

lilredEG
Yeah thats a good one.. The only difference there is that you don't have to worry about the IAB wire, since the GS-R engine (to the extent of my knowlege) is the only honda motor with IABs, making this step unnecessary.

Nightstalker
Correct.

Hiro
what about some of the hoses? its differs from the dx engine so I'm kind of lost. Any of you with free time mind coming to take a look?

Wookey
hoses are all the same except for the rad hoses. Go and buy a upper and lower 94-2001 Integra rad hoses. That's all you'll need.

Hiro
ok on this C-Speed Swap DIY site, the wiring plugs plug and play, however on my friend's car, (jdm engine harness AND CADM cabin harness) the plugs are reversed, I can only plug in one plug on each side, do I need to switch the cabin wiring harness (harness from car to firewall) around so the plugs are the same. Or is it possible to use my dx engine wiring harness and I guess swap the harnesses.
