Girlfriend's sister said the new Civic looks quite impressive.
I read a few details on it and it does look pretty good on paper.
Just wondering if any members have seen or even driven one yet.
The inclusion of a limited slip differential perks my interest :) |

| Yeah I saw one on stony plain road, 2 or 3 days ago. They look pretty cool actually. I have always been pretty impressed with civics though, they are just neat cars. But they have come with an lsd? Thats really sweet. |

| i've seen lots of pics and the gauge cluster is one of the best features on the car. THe super round body is not my style but then again i drive a box |

| That particular model isn't out right now. As far as I have been told, it will hit the streets in Canada come December. |

The current 06' civic models that are out are ugly.
But the SI does look like it will be the best looking model of a civic so far. |

Hi Terry,
I spotted a silver 06 on the South Side a 2 days ago. I had to do a doubble take as I did not recgonize the car. It was not a bad looking unit. I was only able to see the front view as I was passing through an intersection and the car was to my right waiting to cross.
I will add this one to my test drive list!

| civic is alright, too bad the american model has more goodies then the one we are getting over here. They get the built in dvd/nav(??) and several other features for around the same price as the Si over here :S So far I've heard that it handles better and tranny shifts smoother but I haven't driven it yet so I wouldn't know |
|
|
| 86Boi |
| the american version and the canadian version are supposed to be both the same ride quality minus the dvd/navi for the canadian version, its alrigth...pretty gutless though...cant wait till the Si's come out!! DECEMBER!! but thats a bad time to come out though...soo much snow! |

I dunno if December snow season is bad for a fwd lil car then theres something wrong with our world IMO lol!
However since they "improved" on the handling aspect of the car what better month to debut the car in Canadar? |

| i like how civics were supposed to be honda's "affordable" car and used to be decent prices...i just "built my honda" a 2 door civic with an alarm and 17" rims and it was like 28 g's....for that i'd rather get an RSX....just my opinion... |
|
|
| Kiddo |
| yeah the one I built on the site came out to about that range... Pretty retarded since your getting so little for almost 30g pay alittle more for an RSX or eclipse... heck even an accord would be better then the civic minus the dash :( |
|

Wow..... some pretty uneducated responses in this thread so far. Buy an RSX for a few grand more :dunno: Do the people posting this stuff realize a Type S with no options is just over $37k out the door? As well, an Eclipse GT is over $36k out the door; that will work out to alot more than a couple thousand dollars!
Doing a little math based on the projected price for the Si in the US ( it has been stated many times that MSRP will be under $20k in the US) it seems to me the Si in Canada willl come in significantly cheaper than an RSX or Eclipse. Price for a Type S in the US starts at $24k without taxes etc., which morphs into $37k in Canada with taxes, levys, delivery, GST. Based on 20k US the Canadian Si should come in around 30-31k with taxes, levys, delivery, GST. While that's a significant jump form the old SiR it's still 6-7k cheaper than an RSX with better performance. So my question is: why would you even consider an RSX unless you hate the Civic styling and love the RSX's styling or you have a leather fetish or you are a badge whore? For that matter if you wanna spend the $36-37k why not spend another $2k and get a FAR better platform than either the RSX or Eclipse; buy a WRX.
Anyway, about the new Si....... rev limiter at 8500, helical LSD, alcantara interior, vastly improved handling, 6 speed with 4.7.. final drive, 197hp/140tq. Sounds like it's definately gonna be the best civic ever released in North America. It looks like an absolute bargain next to the RSX, which is definately overpriced, and i believe, on it's way out at Acura. |

| I've seen one driving down Wayne Gretzsky Dr, the back is really ugly but the front has some nice lines to it. |

| canadianR, who said anything about a type S....IMO the regular RSX which is about 28k would be a better car to buy:dunno: |

| I personally love the look of the new Civic. I think it looks very sleek and well defined. Although I think the lines on the Si look too rounded. Nothing the aftermarket can't fix though right? |

This is all a matter of opinion.
But when it's all down on paper, the new Civic Si will outperform a Base RSX for less money.
Bang for the buck: 06 Si > Base RSX. |

Why would you say that? For what reason would you choose the base RSX over the Si when the Si sounds like it's going to to be a better car than the Type S is and will be similarly priced to the base RSX? |

LMAO you would rather have a car with 155 Hp and a 6500rpm with no LSD over a car with 197hp, LSD, and a 7800 redline?? Wow your definition of better needs to be explained to us. |

| I luv the new body style its mt favorite one yet. I got to see the world unveiling of the Si at SEMA and its sweeet. The price of the Si sounds like its going to be steep though. I have some pictures from SEMA of Si's tuned by Greddy, Skunk 2 etc. I will post when I have time. |

The new coupe looks really nice and obviously the specs on the Si are impressive.
But the sedan doesn't look good at all IMO, especially from the back. Plus you only have one engine choice. If I was looking for a compact sedan, I think the Mazda 3 is a much better choice. Great looking exterior and interior and a bit more hp. Even the Cobalt sedan might be a better choice since you can get 172hp in it.
I still haven't sat in or driven the new Civic though so I can't comment on the interior or how it drives.
But at least the new Civic is a HUGE improvement over the old one. The old one didn't look good inside or out and performed poorly too. :thumbdown |

| I don't know how well the public is going to respond to an 'expensive' Civic. |
|

| ^^^ i agree...i dont think lots of people would pay close to 30k for a civic...when there are much better cars....(lol before you all get worked up i am not talking about the RSX) |

| i'm not a civic guy but 197hp, lsd, 7800 redline thats impresive it's nice to see these cars: the red line, srt-4 and now civic. i totaly agree lets see more cheap cars that car haul!! |

| RX_AGENT |
One thing you guys should consider when talking about these "expensive" civics. I haven't heard much about it yet, but if the Honda Fit is on it's way this spring, then the civic is no longer Honda's "economy" starter car. Also these new civic have been reported to be the best civics yet, ride quality, fit, finish, more hp and bigger engine w/ the same gas milage as the older civics. You can't get something better without paying a little more.
The SI is probably the closest thing we will get to a civic type-R, and I'm sure that if a civic type-R came to our shores, Honda would have no problem selling them brand new for 30K. I'm afraid this new SI will give our only type-R(Integra) a good run for the money. |

| Sorry, when I think 'Honda' I think cheap econoboxs. |
|
|
| aleks |
| Actually the redline is at 8500 RPM not 7800. The shift light flashes at 8100 but the fuel cut is 8500. Si will sell really well IMO |
|
|
| RX_AGENT |
| That 'Honda' S2000 is sure one hell of a cheap econobox.........nothing like it. As for that 'Honda' NSX, fastest econobox in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
|
| Fish_e_o |
???acura???NSX. right? i think he's just talking about how dodge is the performance version of chrysler corp. and plymouth is the crap version when really they're all the same. but hey they civic was an econobox so is a neon, but now they have sport options. and hey, i don't think the new civic guys wil abandon the old civics, unlike the the new neon guys:D
and 8500 wow!! I only cream.. i mean dream of that. to do that on my car wow it would cost money...
that motor should be fun to work on. i can't wait to see what people do with it!! |
|
|
| motorwerks |
| I thought the same thing when srt-4's came out. Who wants an expensive neon? Then everyone realized they are pretty rad little cars. Who knows... |
|

| the aftermarket support will be huge since there are already many parts built for the K20 from the RSX. |

Pssst, ACURA NSX.
I should've been more specific for the Honda boys, 'when I think cheap econobox, I think HONDA CIVIC.'
Better? |

Acura is the luxury division of Honda.
In Japan (at least up until recently), Acura never existed and the NSX was sold under the Honda emblem.
Same goes for Toyota/Lexus & Nissan/Infiniti.
Anyways, I too think Econobox = Civic.
That is its original purpose but times change and there isn't anything wrong in getting a "fun to drive" econobox.
Better than a "boring as hell" econobox :D |
|
|

Only in North America is the NSX badged as an Acura.
Everywhere else, it's a Honda. |
