Rebuilding a D15b2 Engine for Turbo - Click HERE for Original Thread

AnTi_RiCeR
Hey guys. I am looking to rebuild my Stock D15b2 Engine with 230, 000kms on it for a turbo set-up. But first I have a few question before I go ahead and do this. Is this engine going to be stable enough to handle a turbo? If so can I use stock internals and it will work fine with roughly 7psi? If I need aftermarket internals.. what internals are recommended to be replaced? If I put a metal headgasket on with a 230,000km engine and slap a turbo on it, will I blow my 1.5L? I am thinking about making it a mini me first, but wouldn't v-tech bring up the compression which is bad for turbos? Tell me your thoughts and suggestions about me building up and turboing my stock D15B2 engine. (BTW my car is a 1988 Honda Civic HB 5-speed) *Don't know if I have the right engine type, but I am pretty sure*
thanks guys...

I would suggest checking out Honda-Tech.com

You will find alot of tech info there.

There are many questions in your post that need answering. First off, I would highly suggest doing the Mini-me swap. The d16z6 head flows a lot better even in stock form than the non-sohc you have right now, plus its an additional 20+HP over what you have right now.

As for your motor being able to handle the boost, it really depends on numerous things. What turbo are you going to use? Are you going to use a FMU or a Piggy Back system, or if you go with the mini me set up, you can use a chipped P28 ECU and go with either HONDATA, Uberdata, chrome, etc. Many choices to choose from.

If you do go with aftermarket internals, I would suggest rods, pistons, rings, main and rod bearings, etc.

Lots to think about.

But if done correctly, you can do a mini-me turbo set up on STOCK internals with a T3 Turbo and push 160+WHP on 6-7psi.

What Im trying to say is, it really depends on what parts you are going to use and tune with, to determine the outcome.

Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, btw, if you want to do more research on your d-series motor, I would suggest www.d-series.org and www.turbod16.com

Never tried SOHChonda.com...I'll have to try it out Trevor! :P Most informative site imo is www.d-series.org <----check the archieves!

i have a d15b2 sitting in my garage that i'll sell you dirt cheap if you'd like to throw it in your garage and build it up over the winter or whatever...then when spring rolls in just swap that into your car!

make sure you just polish the pistons and so forth and you will be able to toss more boost at it.
