I suggested earlier that if anyone is willing to make a "Guidelines for the Meets" post, I'd be more than happy to sticky it.
It may not solve the problem entirely but it's a start.
There is no point discussing it at any length or laying out guidelines. The people causing the problems aren't part of the scene and most likely don't follow the forums. The rules are unwritten and apply to life moreso than the meets. Don't be a fucking assclown, don't put peoples' property in jeopardy and don't be disrespectful. You think these kids care though? Fuck no. So why bother? Change the location and keep them out of the loop. Its the best solution. |

wow, highschool mentality
Since some of you talk about making up secret meets to prevent anybody on this site but seniors the chance at attending. Why don't you petition with the moderators to have all 'noobs' (aka anyone with less than a 1000 post count) membership to 780tuners revolked. Then follow that up by having the 'Register' option deleted so nobody new can ever join, and lock all threads so only members can view. Forever living happily in your bubble..
Life happens, you gotta deal with it. This thread is about coming up with productive ways to deal with the situation at hand. Maybe a change in venue would work... or rotating between multiple places. I know how uc is so loved & adored since it's in the middle of everyone. But why not have it so one friday the meet is closer to you but furthar for others, and the next weekend it's furthar for you and closer for others. I highly doubt all the rowdies that show up & cause problems are members on this site. However since uc seems to have been the meet place since the start... many of the problematic individuals have probably learned that over time. So if you change up the location, or rotate between more than one... i doubt many would waste the time searching the city for it on a Friday night just to do donuts infront of everyone.
Maybe having a cop at or within sight of the meet if you stick with uc would be a wise idea. Seeing some sort of law enforcement present would deter the one's causing problems, from acting up or even showing up. I'm going to guess those times when EPS was present... there wasn't any stupid shit occuring.. |

You don't get it do you? When we say senior members we aren't talking about 780. We are talking people at the meet. People that have been going since the meet and don't show up just to pull stupid shit in the parking lot. It has nothing to do with new members on 780 tuners. |

| I just plan to attend the meets that cost money and have corners. That pretty much kills off the retard factor. I can remeber I night when I was at UC.. One of the members of NLR (this is before the group started) comes into the lot and parks his car. Then gets out and starts talking with us about how he just had 5 beers. Yet, he drove the car into the parking lot.. That actually was one of the last times I attended the meets at UC. I don't think the people from that club can really say they are higher class then anyone else. |

| It takes a measure of logic to figure out what we are talking about. Most of the people posting in this thread should just stop, because they are lacking the intellect to figure this conversation out. |

LOL
Could this be further from the point?
I am talking about people engaging in acts that put peoples' lives and property in jeopardy and you are talking about a member of my club that had 5 beers (of which you don't how long ago he drank them or if was just idle boast) apparently trying to run our name through the dirt.
I don't know where this is coming from but its completely oblivious to the issue at hand. And you will never see ANY NLR MEMBER jeopardizing peoples' safety at the meets (ie: attending drunk, ridiculous driving manuevres). Comments like those tarnish individual and community reputations and they should be kept to yourself unless you have some sort of proof otherwise its just hearsay bullshit. |

| I am just saying it happened. It was a long time ago and things might be different now. Its just something that affected my view of this boards car meets greatly. I have also followed some of the resent cruises and I must say that some of the examples of shitty / dangerous driving that I have seen as lead me to think its kinda strange no one has died yet. |

Hence the reason why we want to change to an undisclosed locations and not have retarded people driving. |

| You are completely right. Hard to draw the line when you have 25+ people with performance cars on the same street though. Weeding out the morons will keep things civil though. |

| Okay. It's the new guys who are doing this. I've only just started coming and so far they've been pretty dead. However, we could use the french revolution as a guideline. Rule through "terror". Just tell the new guys that a cop is laway on duty supervising us. lol. hahahaha. OMG GET A SENIOR GUY WHO DRESSES UP ASA COP EACH TIME LOOOLOOLOL. HBAHAHHAHAHA. THE NEW GUYS WILL BE LIKE "HYOLY SHIT A COP" and well all know.. |

| LOLOL. GO ALL F&F with a "police scanner" and if any of the idiots get out of hand someone can be like "hol shit. I heard that someone complained about you guys over the "police scanner". or Why dont the sensible ones talk/"talk" some sense int the idiots? lol. |

Wow where the fuck did this thread go?
Tons of more "ideas" but flaming one another
I know almost 100% of what most of you guys say you seen and whatnot are true I seen it too. I seen original Senior members make asses of themselves just as much as noobies so Im not gonna touch that one. I seen new members eager to attend a meet get to know some people check out some rides and they get welcomed to "Wow look at that poser ride!" or "Whats that guy tryin to prove" ect.. ect...
These nice fellas show up and just as soon as they showed up they get a bad taste in there respectable mouths and leave. Unfortunate I think weve lost a few hundred respectable new members from 780 attendance.
I was weary at first , I got bantered at many meets actually all of them. I dont talk shit about how cool or hot my cars are yet I would be picked on. Im not deaf and Im pretty damn sneaky. This one time a guy told me to my face "That blue Grand Am is hideous have you seen it? The owner is a retard!"
I know my Title says "Senior Member" by post count. I dunno Im still a noob to most of the real senior members but they treat me with respect for the fact that I dont talk shit , I dont put people down I dont drive like a tard ect.. ect.... I feel somewhat welcome around them.
I ask alot of questions at meets it works to meet people and I also find it makes people easier around me. In person I do my best to ask constructive questions it amazes me how willing members are to help.....
What I dont get is why all the flaming when my intro to this thread in massive type said please no flaming or bantering?
:dunno: do I not deserve respect bein Im a respectable guy a nice guy? |

| Its assholes like that who made me kinda not want to return to the meets. lol. I mean no disrespect, but I've heards how great the meets are and each time i go it's a few civics. The first meet I went to I saw some nice cars, but from there (even though its winter) most of the cars are your average car. lol. Also, its the regualar guys who seem to make fun of the new people. EG. The white civic who came 2 weeks ago I think. He parked a bit away and people were making fun of his black lip kit. I went over and commented on his ride and welcomed him. I mean the regular guys have stopped making an effort. Some guys are soo full of themselves. Think of this. You spend your FRIDAY night at a dead car meet. I mean 75 percent of the guys are generally nice once you get to know them. E.G Damien and those guys. However, when i first attended a meet they mocked my parking and the fact that I drove a civic. It's the new guys who have to make the effort to fit in and talk. I'm not saying the seniors should make all the effort, but let's meet half way boys. Most are nice, but if a guy comes in not knowing alot done flame him. Help him learn. lol Unless that header/turbo/nos guy shows up. Then flame away lol. jk. I think that if the general populus of the meet doesnt want idiots doing idiotic things, and are welcoming, then the rest will follow. Also, How about we park our cars so that they're spaced out and people physically cant drift or burnout without the chance of damaging someone elses property. |

| You just attended to late in the year Charles, in the summer there was plenty of all types of cars out. |

|
| Charles_00civic |
Rules:
1) No drifting, burn outs or general stunting. We encourage respectful behaviour. Usage of the parking lots is a PRIVELAGE not a right.
2) Welcome all new members. Try to be courteus to all members.
3) If you know that your comments will lead to emotional distress, then leave them alone. Even if the other person does not repect you. The general body of the meet will join in ignoring the other person as they continue their disrespectful behaviour. The populus always comes out on top. Take the higher ground and just ignore them.
4) Opinions are welcomed. Advice even more so. However, people are entitled to their own opinions and if they choose not to see things your way either respectfully persist. (Withough being passive agressive) or simply continue on your way.
5) Peoples' cars represent them. They are the way they are because the owner enjoys them that way. By attacking someones car you are attacking them personally. (lol trev)
Don't deliberately insult someones car while knowing it will negatively affect them. a.k.a In Mark's case where the guy commented on his pontiac, knowing it was his. You will only succeed in starting a flame war.
6) Don't do anything that will draw negative attention to the meet after you have gone. For example. Peeling out when leaving will draw negative attention to the remaining attendees.
7) You are in a group who enjoys cars. There are limited numbers of these type of people. Don't lose these contacts by being rude. Personal advice is hard to come by in real life. It's is genuine and generally from experience. What you find on the internet may be something that someone just googled to appear like they know what they are doing.

dude, we know we don't drift and shit at the UC lot, it would be fucking dumb since there is a popo station across the street and timmy's on the other side of us.
and the whole thing about kids doing stupid shit, charles u wern't there for the big meets of over 100 cars at UC, then like 100 cars at south edmonton common, when there was good drifting by ppl that know what they are doing, and practice at D-Sport at bud every friday, and have cars made for it
i would trust a few of those drivers to do donuts around me or my car, (steve or kyle), they are good. they know what they are doing
but when someone dumb goes out there in a neon pulling the ebrake and not knowing what they are doing almost hitting our cars, damn thats when it gets sketchey and we just like walk away or leave.
thats what we wanna get away from is dumb ppl,
and like all the kids cruising around with neon(i had neon on the truck for a week then took it off and broke it) and huge fart cans that attract attention from the cops |

Who it was is not important. Personally I respect the guy, its just a bad choice at the time. I am not going to say who it is. I have stopped in with my club a couple times this year. We just usually don't stay long. I usually just walk around and give the cars a once over.. see whats new and interesting. Say Hi to the people that actually know who I am. Then leave. Realistically my E-Thugging on this board has not made me many friends  :D |

| I saw those huge meets occasionally as i drove by. However, I dont think ANYBODY should be drifting whethere it be with cars suited for drifting or in automatic 4 cylinders using the e-brake. It's not LEGAL on streets. Not an issue of whether or not yuo trust em. They give car enthusiansts a bad name. |

i see where your comming from.. but look at 90% of car videos out there and most of it is on the streets, no one will be able to stop public drifting or street racing |

| Realistically, I feel that 99% of the people you see in professional racing, especially the import drag racing guys started out at street racers. I have seen interviews were people like Lisa Kubo have openly admitted that they started off street racing. Not that I am saying people should do it, its just the reality of it. Unless you were brought up lucky enough to be driving a shifter cart when you were young its unlikely you are not involved in something illegal before you get serious. |
