| I heard they're legal here in AB, but not in BC?! What about radar jammers... what kind of fine do you get for having one of those? |

| Jammers are illegal and also don't usually work |

| sramblers and jammers are illegal and they DO work but to shell a G out for one... hell just play it smart and slow down... a scrambler takes the signal, fucks it and shoots it back to the detector and screws it for about 3-5 sec.... it doesn't do it constantly.. it'll detect it, go off, scramble and in that time you have to slow down... jammers are tough to get and as far as I know emit feedback all the time when they're on... those are the ones where you can zoom past a trap and it confuses the detector and the cops scratch their heads.... you had best get one built in and hidden if you're going to use it though b/c if a cop finds that he's liable to impound your ride... just go to megawatt/autosound on 170 st and about 103 ave. and talk to the experts there if you have more questions, tell em matt sent ya B) |

i maybe wrong here, but i think bc, sask, ontario and some of the maritime provinces will take your detector if their vg2 detector detectors pick em up.
some/most of the higher end units will either detect or just dodge the vg2 units. |

Radar/Laser jammers do work I know a guy who has one helped him install it.
The one he has is a Phazer II jams all laser(lidar) and X, K, and KA bands of radar it's very costly and is illegal in Alberta so dont get caught with it. One way around that is to hook it up to a toggle so that when a cop tracks you with it you immidiatley(sp I think) slow down and turn it off so that he can scan you that way you wont get pulled over. |

Okay ...
I can't say much for jammers / scramblers but like radio frequency scanners if they are used to commit a criminal offence they will be seized. Also w/ the state of affairs since Bush declared war I wouldn't want to possess anything the military could track down etc.
As far as radar / laser detectors ... not sure about BC but I know that in Alberta & Saskatchewan they're legal. We don't seize them & there's no charge for possessing them. You'd be surprized though how many vehicles get stopped for speeding that have detectors. Lots of times the detectors just alert you to the fact you're going to get a ticket.

| Radar detectors are legal in BC as well as AB... but they don't do you no good in BC anyhow cuz they changed their speed detection system down there... since they took away photo radar, they now have new and improved laser guns to track your speed with instead. They just point the laser at a car to see what their going at, by the time your radar detector goes off, you're caught anyways... the only way to avoid getting caught is to slow down, or have super eyesight and see the squad car ahead... if you can slow down to the speed limit in .3 seconds, congratulations. |

I lost my radar detector in Ontario. It was picked up by a vg2. Those things pick up all radar detectors and fast. I had the ecsort passport 8500 and as soon as my radar detector went off, I unpluged it and put it away. Too late, he already had me. The only province that does allow radar detectors is Alberta. Some provinces have it written on signs as you enter "Radar detectors are illegal in this province". Ended up i got a ticket for possession of an illegal radar device $125, speeding ticket $60 and they took my $650 radar detector.
When I lived in Nf, I tried to order the valentine 1 radar detector but they would not send it to me because it was illegal there. |

If you read above it is stated that Alberta is NOT the only province to allow detectors. |
