| Ya this happened a week ago. My friend and I were coming home from a friend's house and he lives in Sherwood Park. So ya my friend(white guy) was speeding on the highway there and he got pulled over. They gave him his ticket and everything fair deal, but because I sat in the passanger side and the officer also asks me for my license and I'm like.."why do u want my" "when I'm not even driving" and he reply, "There's a vietnamese guy on the loose and he matches your description", "so I need your license so I can scan it"..So what description?? b/c I have chinky eyes and black hair :wtf: my question is...I don't think the officer could do that..and if this happens again , how could I complain next time?? |

| badge # seems to be the way to do it... then you go to the main police station or rc station depending on which and do it. |

| azn... it's standard routine for anyone who's not "white" to also check their d.l's cops think ya'll look alike and they're racist, it's unfortunate that racial profiling exists but it does I could just imagine what'd happen if you gave him attitude, he'd pull his gun and search you... you can complain all you want but honestly they won't do shit about it.. unless he was rash towards you and called you a name... unfortunately you gotta live with it :( sorry |

it's called a DWA "Driving While Asian" very similiar to a DWB "Driving While Black"
It's also related to a PWA "partying while asian" although this version involves the requirement to have 14 pieces of I.D., Urine Sample, and police escort to enter a bar....If you happen to get in don't forget that your still a gangster and could possibly have more guns on your body than Neo from The Matrix.
Not that you'll need to use them cause disembowling bouncers with a pool cue and a jump kick would be faster and within your abilities.
On the bright side, just try and imagine that white cop driving in Hong Kong and getting pulled over cause he's white, and driving a nice car in a nice neighboorhood... |

| Reguardless of skin colour, a cop doing his job is just a cop doing his job. If some bastard, be him white, black, or green, murders a family in their sleep and is suspected to be on the run, i think that it's a good thing that a cop would ask to see the ID of a guy matching his description. I mean what do you have to loose, 3 minutes of your time. It's good to see that the cops are trying to catch criminals. |

Racial Profiling, although it sucks, is a nessessary tool in crime solving, WTF do you think?
"An African American shoots 27 People, robs a bank and carbombs a parlement building, do you think Cops are going to bother looking for whites, Asians or Browns?
I hate how everyone screams racism when a cop or anyone else does their job and hes white, they are not. Should I feel violated if a Cop of another race than I am does that to me? NO, they are doing their job. None of you guys were there and by what azn stated, he wasn't much of a dik about anything, so all of you who were automaticly asuming the cop was a dick about it have no grounds. If the cop was a dick, azn would have said so, thats not something one generally would leave out of an encounter with the 5-0.
And maybe some of you Asians dont see it, but it IS alot harder to tell some of you apart from others. Am I being racist by saying that?! F- No, stating a simple and honest observation. For any other race other than your own "Other races generally look the same" is that racist? thats a fact of life! You see it all the time in Movies, at work, shopping for groceries.
How is "looking for a Asian male fitting this description" any different from "Looking for a Caucasian male fitting this description" its NOT! Both are being tageted the same way. Yould you have reacted the same way if the cop was of the same race? *yawn*
The cop was doiing his job, if there is a PB out on someone and you even remotely resemble the description, how can you get mad at the cop doing his job? What if someone murdered your parents, and the killer got pulled over just like you guys did, and the cop did his "Racist Racial Profilling" and Identified the suspect and took him to jail? Would you fight that he was caught by racial profilling and should be set free untill he is caught by other means? think about it!

I don't normally respond to these types of threads, coz I think people have a right to speak thier mind, and it's better vented here than it is in person. Having said that, I'd just like to point out an inconsistancy in the previous post. While, in theory, I agree with what inglewood is saying, the way he said it is verging on insulting.

White kids with skateboards are judged on sight, even though one may become a scholar.
Asians in import cars a judged on sight, even though one may be a doctor.
Black guys dressed up like rappers are judged on sight, even though one of them may own an expensive resturaunt downtown.
A girl with long blonde hair, a pink outfit and a shapely body will be judged on sight, even though she may be dentist. (not the best example, i know)
A white cop just trying to do his job is judged on sight, even though he may have the most honest of intentions.
We can all hope for equality, but as long as these barriers (and others) exist, there won't be. The best way to deal with it is show that you are a bigger person, co-operate as best you can, and be one step closer to dispelling that prejudice in the other person's mind. Fighting it and falling into the roll he/she believes you play will only fuel the racial fire. |

racism sucks, but its still out there, and unfortunately, some of us have to deal with it until socitety changes.
im sure if i went to the middle east, or asia, id be stereotyped, in fact, 95% of the japanese people that i know are way more racist than 95% of the white people i know, in fact they go beyond racism to xenophobism (that a real word?).
i dont mean to insult people in this forum, as you all seem to be pretty level thinkers, but pots shouldnt call kettles black. |

i had this talk on clubrsx.com. i think it ain't no big deal to hand over my drivers license, but i still would be insulted by being targeted. i understand, but i don't have to like it.
the comment that asians all look the same, that is just fucking stupid. if you actually take the time to look, you might be able to tell the difference. i think it would be an extremely rare event for a white guy to mistake 5 different asian guys in chinatown for his good asian friend. you are just ignorant.
and there's a reason racism is called so often - that's because colored people experience it a lot more than white guys. i've heard white guys say they are discriminated against, and i believe'em. but how can you honestly believe a white guy is more disciminated against than colored people when most of the country is white? i guess we colored guys shouldn't expect you white guys to understand. when the country was last in recession you heard a lot of comments about "immigrants" taking jobs and university spots from "canadians". i think we all know what was really meant.
anyway, it's getting better and hopefully it'll continue. but the issue will be here for a long time until we (and hopefully me) all have sex with the hot women from all nations and eventually, after generations, end up with a single-colored human race. hmm... i'll start with tyra banks please... :wub: |
