Supra_devil
as the title says. i'm looking at getting one eventually, to do a swap with a motor. kinda hoping to see one in person first, compare it nest to my stock spare tranny to see how they measure up to each other.

Also, any general info you might have on t56's without haviong one would be nice too. the more knowledge i can get, the better.
i had a hard time googling info on it though, could have just been me being stupid.

Is this for a Supra or a domestic?

Supra_devil
supras never had t56's. but thats what i want to put it in.

i know some versions were different depending on their application, so i wanted to see a couple if possible to see which one would fit best.

Snugs has one ... although it is in his car.

hmmm, well unless i happen to catch his car on a lift, then i'm kinda screwed, and thats still hard to find out the shifter location and such.

i didn't post it hoping for much success, but you never know unless you ask.

The GM T56 from the 93+ Firebird/Camaro is a direct bolton to any 82-92 Camaro (Needs a new crossmember that just bolts on), whether it be automatic or standard. So you can use a junkyard V8 Camaro/Firebird to get a rough idea of what you're looking at in regards to a GM T56.

Before you start though, you are aware of how much it would cost to just get a T56?

You can go to david T's to ge the dementions you want. I'm pretty the camero and firbird autowreckers would have on out in the back. As for the cost the last time I wanted to get on for my old firdbird it was somewhere in the $3000- $5000 range, but that was for a crate tranny. If you want a used one I'm sure david will sell you one but the guy is a rip off artist and his price will probably be the same. try central or lunds as another sorce for a good used T56.

Man I wish my focus used a 6 speed tranny but I can only dream to have enough power to need a 6 speed.

JB's Racing
One of the guys at the West End JB's Store has a T-56 swapped into an early Supra. It works great in that car. I am sure that he would be happy to give you some info on the swap.

Supra_devil
ya my parents have a 67 firebird, we know all about david T's, lol.

i realize the t56 will cost a fair bit, but its better than the v160 (mk4 supra 6 speed) for my application, there is an adapter kit for the motor i want to put it on, and the motor i want to put it on makes 370hp...... so this is far from a "oh i think i'll just do it over winter" kind of idea, i'm getting measurements, costs, plans, etc. to see what all will be involved. this is a multiple year plan for a build-up.

I will have to ask at the JB's about it as well, see exactly what gen supra it was and what all he had to do.
