Buying a car off Ebay - Click HERE for Original Thread

redbaron303
Has anyone purchased a car off ebay or has experience doing so???

Is this advisable or are there better ways to source out cars in the state (their auto trader - dealer links?) ????

Also is buying off european ebay the same as purchasing off local??? If for some reason the deal got messed up whose laws do I follow, those in Germany or those in Canada????? (Ebay Germany in question)

I THOUGH ABOUT IT before, and i don't think its worth it considreing amount of fraud with e-bay /paypal etc.
there was tons of people selling off bikes like brand new 750 gixers for 3-5k $ ended up being scam/
so if you want a car go down and buy it there , with ebay who knows what you will recive and when you will recive it , and if you don't or someone sells you stollen car what you going to do how to prove anything.etc:blue:

A guy here at work has picked up 2-3 Vette's from Ebay without issue. He goes down to see each on though to verify they are as advertised, but has yet to have a problem.

ya definately check up on the vehicle to make sure its all that it should be. I wouldnt do it personally though... too much hassle.

charger_guy
my dad and i nought a 68 charger off ebay....turned out perfect

Maybe I should just fly to Munich.... $800 return flight, spend a couple days there searching out the cars I want, demo them, and bring em home.... The $800 flight is less than 10% of the purchase value of the car, so by the sounds of what ppl are saying it's worth it.

Damn pricey to bring cars back from Europe though...

What kind of car do you plan on tire kicking?

I'm curious too about buying cars in the US. The prices even with exchange seem to be cheaper than here. I'm curious about how to bring it back across. I would obviously have to pay duty but what else would have to be done.

I belive anything automotive related is taxed (new or used) upon coming into Canada. I may be wrong, just what I heard, but you wouldn't want that for a surprise when you try to bring your new car home!!

I have a experience about it. One day I found 97 Supra Twin Turbo. Buy it now cost was only $7000 (include shipping cost)
He said he would join the army so, he didn`t need supra anymore. I trusted him. Finally, I could see he was scammer.

Some guy on beyond recently bought a 95 Supra TT from the states and did a great report on the process he needed to go through to bring it back to Calgary.

Anything else that I should watch out for ?

Eclipser
Bought my eclipse of ebay, everything went well.

I had the seller bring the car to the manufacture dealership in my case acura and have a complete inspection done, I paid for the inspection. If the seller wants to sell the car he should have no problem taking the car in.

ya look closely at the panel gapping, all the emblems are there and not painted over.., and look at the rad commonly if a car has had a front end collision there is paint overspray on the rad or rad mounts.
