Villeneuve Airport Racing - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi Folks;

In a couple of the other topics we discussed the racing that went on September 07th, 2002 at the Villeneuve Airport but I couldn't remember which ones so I thought I'd open up a new topic.

As there was some discussion that a certain police officer advised of some alternate places to race prior to this incident I am soliciting information that anyone may have regarding this. The Court dates for these individuals is coming up soon so I would like to get as much info prior to then. The information will not be used against anyone but if it can assist any of them I will sure go to bat for them with it!!!

SlowAzz works in the cabinet knob industry, ppl wouldn't be able to open their cupboards if he couldn't deliver them

That's halarious! :D

But on a serious note... I think the punishment seems a little stiff... it's not like you murdered anybody with your car... I didn't hear em charge you with mowing down some elementary kids in a crosswalk, although i'm sure the penalty would be greater. It still seems unreasonable to me, but still won't 100% deter me from checking the scene out every now and then!

I really hope you guys beat this thing so you can turn around and flip off the prosecutor (although that isn't the maturest thing to do :S) Maybe you should print off these posts that you've made and they'll show how sorry you are and might allow for more leniency...? Goodluck is what I have to say and hopefully we'll see you around this summer behind the wheel of your car!

Like I've said before I'm in it for the cars not rebellion or whatever other reasons people have to race on the street. I wish I was 25.

That's totally it, I like the scene, but it's the cars that do it for me. I dont' see any harm in doing what you guys did. That's just my view. I'm 19 and I can relate to you and what you're going through even though I haven't stepped into your shoes. Just trying to find an insurance company that will insure my car for a reasonable price is insane... I hope you guys don't get what they're driving to serve you. When are you guy appearing in court again? Soon isn't it?

The only thing I can say to you guys heading to court is that I hope the courts give you what you deserve, not anything more. Considering all of the publicity surrounding his fiasco, I am worried that they will use you as an example and will "throw the book at you".

Good luck.

I have a question about how the video is going to be used against you guys.. I was told by a RC at one point that video taken by a civilian was not useable in court.. This was the situation..

My GFs aunt lived on a acherage (sp) out by gibbons, about 3 mins from quest for adventure paintball.. now there were 5 acherages right beside each other.. in one of these homes was a drug dealer / distributor.. I knew that was what he was because of about 5 things..

1: he was 20 and bought a $150,000 home with cash
2: he spent about 3 hrs a Day shooting a glock 17 in his back yard.
3: he never leaves his home yet he "works in construction" \
4: he buys his GF cars and trucks for ordinary presents
5: one time people came bye and actually asked me where the guy selling drugs was.. I pointed.. they went over.. came out of the house waived and said hey THANKS..

I desided to setup a timelaps camera in my GFs aunts yard.. various cars came and went.. I got all there Licence plate numbers and stuff.. I take it to the gibbons RCMP.. Oh sorry we didn't take the footage therefore we cannont use it.. The first thing that went threw my head was WTF.. how handy capped can this get.. if I saw the guy shoot someone on film would that not be of any use ?.

Plus how exactly can video be used to prove you were street racing.. sure they can see your cars.. but what about you.. someone else could have been driving your cars.. Just a idea.. I was not there..

I would like to see this video... must have had a telephoto lens or something because that air tower you guys were in insn't very close to the strip. I know my digital camera wouldn't zoom in enough to snap good burnouts from the starting line from our 'pits!" Must be quite the equipment the rc uses.... I still say that is a misuse of manpower, imo. I think police efforts could be spent on more pressing issues, but that's my opinion!

Just on the basis that the video isn't clear enough to picture the driver, or sometimes even the car. My question is, am I the one that would be charged if my car is caught on tape street racing by you guys, but it DOES NOT show me driving, like the driver can't be pictured. Thereotically if i'm not driving and someone else is, it still seems like I would be charged with the offense, by some of the other comments made... just my presumption.

YEs you still can/may be charged but not as the driver but on the sole fact that you are the registered owner of the vehicle

So on that basis, I wouldn't get demerits but rather be find for allowing myc ar to participate in a race, which means Id get the $$$ fine and I could go pay it and nothing would come otherwise.... or not so much?

Folks;

I guess what I was looking for was specifics on the member that stated people should go to the Villeneuve Airport as they'd be left alone up there. I can't help anyone if I can't identify the member:

- RCMP / City Police / Bylaw Officer (what colour stripe on pants??)?
- age?
- size (tall, short, fat, skinny)?
- male / female?
- race?
- type of vehicle driven?
- location where told?
- how many police there?
- date / time?

Are you not risking pissing some of your fellow police officers off by helping us find the person jim ? I would think that they would kinda look at you funny and get kinda pissed if they found you were actively assisting the "import street racing menis".. It great that you are but sounds like it would make your co-workers kinda mad..

i dont think having "friendly relations" with his co-worker is #1 on his list at the moment.
It seems like if this person were found, it would make the case much easier.

for 1, he would be "taught" not to tell racers to go elsewhere
2, i think slowass said something about entrapment
3, it doesn't seem like Jim supports street racing, so any officer who does, im sure Jim wouldn't want to associate much with him/her

I am a strong believer that education & enforcement should be balanced. The education also applies to police officers. This goes for giving advise on equipment etc as well. I feel the "Street Legal" program has gone a long way to bring the police & youth together & I would hate to see the two separate because of a loss in trust. I am trying to put together the YIELD program & with the assistance from the SuperCops team (RCMP) & the BlueLineRacing team (EPS) I hope that we can continue to build a cooperative relationship with you folks.

I would think the fact he has a mustache and was driving a much more uncommon police vehical would be kinda helpfull.. its something that can be referanced I would think.. the cops have to sign cars out of a motor pool don't they ?.

SlowAzzPorsche911T
you know what boils my blood and just makes me un-imaginably beyond angry? My great uncle everett bell, god bless him. Was mowed down at a crosswalk last December and the driver got away and parked the car in his garage... no one could clearly identify the driver and after months of arguing between the crown and that asshole's lawyer and tests at the rcmp lab they can not beyond a reasonable shadow of a doubt prove he was driving the vehicle. He's getting off with some registered owner vehicle charge and a 2 grand fine or so. He killed my fucking great uncle and he was in EXCELLENT shape hell he could beat me in arm wrestle at 87 he had at least 10 more years in him.
