Here is where I start the club that owns all!
Feel free to post if you own a Tempo/Topaz.
If you dont own one dont bother posting its a club so deal with it Biotches :)
I own a 1993 Tempo GL 5 speed 2.3 4cyl and a 1991 gls Tempo for parts. These cars own even boat sized cars in demolition derbies so some respect is earned there IMO.
97 hp 130lbs pretty lame however will keep up with or beat some stock civics and Midsize domestics. Proof is in the pudding.
I think its a pretty cool winter car and after I fix the minor hose burst problem I will be in action once again!
I know several members drivem so post up it wont hurt! |

LOL i didn't know you made a thread about your club Mark lol! Since the Z is asleep for winter i'll be out and about in my winter beater, My Silver Topaz...it's an Auto lol but no RUST and only 123,000Km:blink: lol

lol i had the topaz before i got the Z so it just sat there and now the Z is parked and i don't want to spend money on something i can avoid like buying a new car. besides all the money I saved up for the Z just so i could buy it is now gone leaving me kinda poor for a bit lol...I'm still in school so i don't work full time either. But i'm happy i managed to save enough up to get the Z...so now i starting to put money aside for repair/thing i want for the car and some on the side for other things. Oh well, I drive a POS in winter lol and one of the nicest Jap cars IMO in summer:thumbup: but next winter I will be looking for a better winter beater...maybe sell me your civic? looks like a nice strong car:) |

I dunno it is one of 2 most hardcore demolition cars I ever seen for one and as for reliablility well I seen more of them put huge miles on the odo than corrolas. Its not a appealing car but Im thinkin its ok. I paid $1500 for mine put around $60,000 kms on it before I had any problems. Its 13 years old and only got one fender with any rust. It got rear ended last January whick resulted in a brand new Maxima destroying the front bumper and some of the hood and the rear of my Tempo was not even a scratch. I think they built a tough car that is a decent means to get from point A to point B. Then again it is a Tempo not much worth Braggin about. Still if your not joining I would much apretiate you leaving you comments out of my thread. Not Telling you stay out just asking thanks :) |

tempo - the car the cops chopped inhave with a police cruiser a few years back...
Topaz - I t-boned one at 50km/h with a 02 Neon... the neon didn't look that bad, i have pics of it... but the topaz imploded pretty much, blew out every window cept the drivers and the windshield, snapped shocks in half demolished the whole rear pass side.... It was just a pile-o-scrap.

As far as "car's like the fifth" yeah car's like a ford LTD? I've personally seen an LTD be demoished by a honda civic.
So it really depends i've also seen a fifth perfrom in a farm derby that was in a big field with ramps and such as well.... performed pretty good. |

Oh as for unreliable..... My paps sold me his 400,000 km Tempo for a parts car. I drove it to its grave yard and tried my best to blow it up redlining every gear. Did nothing. I kept it at the end of the rpm gauge in 3rd gear for 20 minutes bouncing off the gear nothing happened. drove it to 60kmh in first foot to the floor on the gas pedal for 10 minutes nothing happened to it :( He had the car for 6 years and only had to replace the front suspension for $200 and a wheel bearing for $10. Did oil changes every 20,000 kms (added oil no filter replacement) still went and went with no problems.
