Hey guys I'm looking for a stock diameter dual belt alternator pulley. If you have one PM me and let me know how much you want for it.
Thanks! |

I will measure the diameter of the pulley just to make sure.
I thought that pulley I bought from you was a 15% over-size Matt? Wasn't it a Racing Beat dual belt?
Thanks for the replies. I'll be in touch after I measure! (tomorrow). |

Bah no worries Matt! I'll measure it and find out.
I am really just shooting in the dark trying to figure out my power issues. They are so weird. The power drops to 12V/13V on the guages at idle (900-1000rpm) sometimes. Bringing the engine to 2500 rpm or so brings the power back up to normal voltage. I notice that at night or in the morning when I'm using the running lights / lights the voltage drops as well. I disconnected my amp and have stopped using my stereo since the same thing happened when they were on. My only guess is its an over sized pulley or a bad alternator.
I checked the battery terminals, Alternator terminal and checked over the harness. I didn't see any problems.
I'll post the results after I get home tonight. |

what are you using for a volt meter?
I would put money on a bad alt.
was at pick and pull yesterday but didnt notice if there
were any alternators in the 2 2nd gens that are there.
i did notice a really big alternator on a old first gen
looked like a chev alternator with a adapter on the wiring.

I don't own a volt meter I'm just using the gauges in the car. I don't think it is far off since when I'd get a good bass pulse through the amp the dash lights would dim =(
I'll have to take it in and get it tested to know for sure.
Thanks for the info. If I can't find one I'll try to find a used one.

I can lend you mine for the weekend if you need. Digital Multimeter with volt, amp, etc...
Let me know by PM, OK?

The easiest thing to do might be to take the alternator & battery to a couple Partsource or Canadian Tire & get them to bench test them (they do it for free), I suggest going to a couple places just in case one of them doesn't know what they are doing. Also make sure you're voltage loss from positive battery to positive alternator is less than 0.4V running. My two cents anyway.

Well an interesting development.
I tightened my belts and disconnected my amp. I haven't had a problem starting it for the last couple of days! I still notice a drop in voltage at idle sometimes. Which is a little concerning.
I have also observed that with the lights on then turning the signal light at idle dims the dash lights as well. Same for the brakes.
Good news about the starting but I will still check out the voltages.
Crazy electrical problems =)
Thanks for your input :P |

| Measuring that pulley in the dark is tough... I am pretty sure it was 7.5cm does that sound right? I have some time tomorrow I'll take a look again. |
