So, let's hear some opinions/comments/thoughts about the latest UFC PPV.
I thought that Matt Hughes showed just how good of a fighter he is. In total control throughout, went through several different submissions before finally locking the farside kimura. He is amazingly complete.
Georges St. Pierre, another impressive fight. I still think he's a bit too green to stand a good chance against Hughes, but what a rematch that would be.
And what happened to Quarry? Ace was just too much for him. Knocked out cold only a few minutes in. Er.. what did he say about Franklin having a weak chin? ;)
The rest of the fights aren't really worth mentioning.
**But** how about Dana White and his announcements? For those that didn't watch, in order of importance:
#3 The coaches for season 3 are announced and they are Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz. Didn't see either of those coming. That should make for some good television.
#2 Who's back in the UFC welterweight stable? None other than BJ Penn. Penn vs. Hughes? Now that would be great.
And finally.. who didn't see this coming.. but it still needs to be said:
#1 Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture #3!Feb 4th, if you're a UFC fan, you're going to be by the TV set (or preferrably at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas).
Other thoughts? |

Shamrock and Ortiz being under hte same roof is gonna make for a great series, screw the contestants...
Matt and Rich, what true champions, knowing what to do to win and not wanting to hurt the other figher.
St. Pierre continues to impress me, but the lackluster fights of the rest of the card just were terrible. |

I agree, it was almost fitting. But, I don't think Quarry really felt that way about Franklin. They're always induced to say inflammatory things about their opponents to make for good television. It's just the nature of the business.
So, predictions on Liddell vs. Couture?
As much as I love Chuck Liddell, I think I'll have to go with Captain America for this round. I think if he gets it to the ground, it'll be enough of an advantage to end Liddell's day. |

i agree completely, the pre fight talk makes it alot more interesting, i know it made me tune in. as for couture and lidell, i gotta give it to couture, i think it will be a close fight but randy will come out on top. |

So true, so true...
Two of the most morally bankrupt places (as a whole) in the entire world. I have new respect for Riggs. |

I am very excited for TUF 3 and also for UFC 56. I can't wait to see Liddell and Couture fight again. I think that Couture still has some life in him and has a pretty good chance against Liddell if he stays away from his punches.
St. Pierre showed so much skill in his win during UFC 55. He should get a shot at Hughes again. At least we can guarantee that he'll make weight!

the second quarry got hit the first time with a fairly solid shot in the jaw, you could tell the pussy didn't want nothing to do with that.
he just froze up like a pussy. wasn't moving, hands weren't up at proper gaurd, feet weren't loving... like he was just sitting there waiting to take it up the ass like a good nancy. |

I dunno about that. In the first fight St. Pierre was pretty much tunin him in, got caught in a submission but he was still dominating hughes.
Also, hughes had a real tough time with Trigg, and St Pierre absolutely dummied him.
I think st. pierre would take hughes no problem, but will they let him fight? Or is the rematch with that hawaiin guy (can't remember the name) more important.
And I think couture takes liddel for the rubber match, won't make the same mistake of trying to stand up toe to toe, expect to see a fight much more like the first with Randy continually going for take downs. First fight it took him about 3 tries but he was able to get chuck down and keep him there. |
