Hey Dudes...maybe you can answer some questions for me.
I have a '94 Golf 2.0L 4 cyl...base 115 hp torque ???
What I NEED...is a new exhaust...mine is shot...if you know Vw's then you know that this model has a 2 muffler system...and is expensive to replace...I want some more power but still a quiet ride...any suggestions for a guy on a budget, a product that is tough and economical and adds performance???
Also I would like to add a new intake and filter, as well as maybe new plugs and wires. Will this help me need for more ooomph??? I basically want to add about 35-50 Hp to my ride for about $1000. Any and all info or suggestions welcome!!
Thanx

The only way you'll get 35-40 rwhp for $1000 is Nos. and only until you run out of refills!

dogstar
get a custom exhaust made, throw on a dynomax or flowmaster muffler and scrap the stock system.
add a home made cold air intake
start looking for cams

between those three, id guess parts and installation would be about 800-1000, and youd probably get 15-35 horses.

Higher compression pistons?

You want to spennd 1000 and get 50 more horses, its not gona happen. intake=150 to 300, headers 500+, cat back 650+. Your are looking at $1300 plus to gain 15 to 20 more hp at the wheel. Start with your basic bolt ons and save up for all motor or forced induction, or try an engine swap. More power = a hell of a lot of coin

That's not always true... I got more power for $100.00, see I doubled the psi on my turbo... haha, 5psi (or 4) to 10psi with a man. boost controller.... very simple to increase power (although I already have forced induction which is like comparing apples to oranges... haha, oh well)

Ok, like these guys said, you're not going to get that kinda power for that money, you've been reading too many Import Tuner mags. If you want to do cheap mods there are thousands of them, I'm not sure if exhaust is adaptable between the 4cyl and the VR6, but I know someone that has several cat back exhausts, although I'm not too sure, he may be willing to part with one. He is on these boards as VR666, just look through the member directory and give him a shout. He's also the man you want to talk to about your car, he's by far the biggest VW freak I know, so talk to him when you get a chance, he'll probably help you out.

give Vincent @ Autobraun a call: 448-9080. He has all the goodies taht makes your car go fast. 50hp for 1000 dollars or under will only happen when you install NOs or own a 1.8T motor.

vince from autobraun is a dick...i'd rather get parts from concept 1 in calgary or rpi,or momentum in vancouver....and if u want a good sounding exhaust for cheap just slap on a stock vr6 muffler
