I have been quit for 2 Weeks, 1 Day, 17 hours, 20 minutes and 39 seconds (15 days). I have saved $165.08 by not smoking 393 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Day, 8 hours and 45 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 11/28/2005 9:18 PM
So I'm still doing good. Long trips are still killer, and I really miss smoking while watching TV at hotels. I think what really made the difference this time is now when I go out partying I can't smoke while drinking. Both times before this that I quit, I started up again at New City while pissed. This time, can't happen! |

I quit smokin cigs for 2 months using that method. I would smoke about 30 joints a day about 14 grams. Yup that was stupid  I got busted with a huge sack in the trunk and lost it all. So I got a pack of cigs and started puffing again.
Right on Stainless keep it up bro  |

Me and weed don't play well together. Plus I am a truck driver, and random drug tests happen every once in a while.
I used the patch for a week, and then forgot to buy new ones. Still didn't buy any. I think I'm done. $300 a month, I already notice the difference in my account. |

I have been quit for 3 Weeks, 19 minutes and 25 seconds (21 days). I have saved $220.63 by not smoking 525 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Day, 19 hours and 45 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 11/28/2005 9:18 PM
Three weeks!
It's easy now. I still get the urge sometimes, but I wouldn't say it was a craving.
Benifits I have noticed:
- I'm cooking way more now. My sense of taste and smell are back.
- I don't get worn out as much at work. It's getting better every day.
- The money issue of course.
- I'm actually losing weight, and not muscle weight, but fat weight. I was expecting the opposite. It's weird considering how much fast food I eat in a day. But I am slowly starting to look like competitive runner/swimmer Tyler again. And I really like that. |

And if anyone is wondering where I get that information from, I use a program called Quit Keeper.
You can get it here for free. |

I bet you your efforts paid for it in the end (and if they haven't yet, in the long run, it will).
Are you a gamer? Seems that laptop is pretty souped up for the ultimate gaming experience. Nice buy. |

| Oh, Stainless, I noticed your avatar is still you (assuming) with a cigarette. Perhaps put a picture of you in Speedo instead (joke of course). |

| Yeah, I game, not as much as I used to. Now it's mostly World of Warcraft with occasional GTR/Live for Speed/BF2 thrown in. I just think it would be sweet having a laptop with a 7800 Ultra. |

I guess one last bump for this. I'm still smoke-free.
I feel way better, my blood pressure has dropped insanely, and I managed to keep off any weight gain.

Congrats Stainless!!
Whenever I start seriously thinking about quitting I get panic attacks sort of... I've been smoking for sooo long... I'm so sick of it. So now my hubby and I are cutting back on the smokes, soon both of us should be able to quit.
The first couple of weeks will be hard for both of us, but oh so worth it.
On average we spend between $400 and $600 a month on cigarettes between th two of us. That's $400-$600 a month we could be spending on our house renovations, or on car parts or jeep parts, or on our vacation or our mortgage or WHATEVER, so long as it isn't being spent on smokes.
Oh... substituting weed for cigarettes is a BAD idea... we tried it and we ended up going through a 1/4 every two days....:dunno: the only way it works is if you have a small hoot only when you are going stir crazy for a smoke... just to take the edge off, that's how our daughter did it and she has been smoke free for 2 years and now she ALWAYS has money in her pocket... makes me kinda jealous to be honest.
We cut coffee and pop out of our diet last week as well... I found out that International Delights coffee creamer is basically edible motor oil and it's full of artery clogging nasty shit, so because we can't stand drinking coffee without the flavoured creamer (tastes like ass now for some reason) we just cut it out altogether. That was a week ago and both of us have noticed an improvement in our energy levels.
Question: when you quit smoking, do you really get alot of energy back? And how long does it take after quitting to notice the difference? |

It seems to me like a pretty good idea to *NOT* inhale smoke into your lungs to begin with... And human nature is self-preservation.
It's like, if little Timmy decided to start cutting himself in school, and then decided on day to tell everyone he wasn't going to cut himself anymore... "Oh good job little Timmy, here's a cookie!"
Fuck no!
This is the 21st century where the risks of smoking are quite well documented, so there's really no reason that anyone should be surprised about what happens when you smoke, and/or then quit smoking.
If you dont like what he has accomplished then stay the fuck out of his thread. Get off your high horse, Im getting seriously tired of your shit. |

A few years ago, I had a moment of clarity and quit cold turkey. However, that only lasted a few months as I was also addicted to alcohol and I slipped up at the bar bumming a cig... it was all downhill from there. There were situations farther back where I was able to quit due to a nasty flu bug, but I haven't got sick for a few years.
Anyways, I found after quitting drinking that my indulgence in cigs has increased dramatically. I'm the typical smoker who figures that I'm SOL and will never be able to quit.
I've noticed that my energy level is frighteningly low, I'm almost positive this is due to my increased dependence on smoking. I'd truly love to quit, but I don't have a personal inclination to actually force my mind to give it a chance. I know I can do it, because I was house sitting for a friend that wasn't a smoker and I didn't have a cig in the evenings for about a week. I'm also a stress smoker and my job fuels the desire to smoke at every break I get.
I'm currently up to almost a pack a day and it's quite pathetic. What I'm wondering, as I've tried the nic gum and it makes me want a cig right after, what is the very first step for a perfect or your own personal method of quitting? I've read that you have used the patch, I'm guessing that it does quell the urge? Any pointers are appreciated, thanks. |
