| you think this is a good alternative to jogging? i want to hit the treadmill but i can't afford a gym membership until school starts so i bought a jumping rope. is this a waste of time or you think it'll burn a few calories/fat? |

| It will most definitely burn calories/fat. It also works a different group of muscles that running. It's a good choice imo. Jump rope for life, yo! |

I found that jumping rope and running take about the same amount of time to tire you out/get you sweating.
Cept after 15 minutes, you gotta start doing something different with the rope or it just gets boring :D |

Jump rope does the trick , but its about the same as joggin. but at least if u get good u can learn some cool tricks unlike joggin |

I dunno man , running around at -20'c to -30'c makes me get pretty damn hot. It does burn more calories faster than skippin a rope Im sure. Also think about the extra horsepower you get breathing in that colder air :D  |

If you did it for the same amount of time, I'd think you be OK.
Skipping rope is great cardio (As already mentioned) when you do it with a higher level of intensity. That's the key - is the high intensity. |

| If you're into basketball jumping rope is also an added bonus by increasing your vertical. |
