I purchased it about 6 years ago, it was worn for approximately 4 months then we broke up and she gave it back, i boxed it up and haven't really thought of it since. I'd rather see it go to someone who's going to get use out of it since i think me re-using it wouldn't be prudent because of the history.

the ring has one larger diamond in a clasp setting in the center. the receipt doesn't say what grade it is but i think it was one of the top 3?
it has two smaller settings shaped like hearts that face away, one on either side of the center diamond that each have 3 small diamonds in them
the band has sort of a corkscrew in it? (i don't know what you would call it) it looks like it has a definate start and end to the piece, where it would start on one side of the settings, curve in to the center, then go around the underside, up to the top, curve over to the other side and end.
I will take pictures if there is any interest.
this ring cost me $480.00
I'm looking to get $200 for it if possible.
edit: it also comes in the original box, with the original receipt and warranty/cleaning card, in the original sale bag. it looks as if it was purchased yesterday.

You may want to get it appraised, because if you paid 480 for it I'd assume it would appraise ~1000. Which makes it look that much more attractive to a buyer at your asking price.
As well, it shows the buyer what exactly they are getting. |

yeah, but appraisals aren't cheap. i haven't been with that girl for a LONG time, my wife and kids don't need me with the extra baggage so i figured i would just fire-sale it to get rid of it.
thanks for the idea though :) |

| do you know the size?? |
|
|
| cua0 |
| unfortunately, i don't know the size, i do know that it has never been re-sized. |
|
|
| cua0 |
| the ring is a size 7 as best i can remember, we also double checked with the sears catalog paper sizing chart thing which confirms it's a 7. |

new info:
the ring is 14K gold.
the size is 7
the center diamond is one of the highest 3 or so. |

Diamonds are rated on the 4 C's
Carat, Cut, Color, Clarity
Saying the diamond is one of the highest 3 doesn't really mean much. Could you be more specific please. They should have given you a diamond certificate with the ring, all that info should be listed on there.
You could probably even take it into peoples, and they could grade the diamond for you. |

yeah, i'm sick and bedridden at the moment though so i haven't been able to go anywhere for a while.
I will take it in and have them give me more info though, i wasn't expecting as much intrest in it as it seems to have generated.
I thought they had given me a card with all that info, but what is shown in the pictures is what i got, or what i still have anyways. there isn't anything in there that says what grade the diamond is. |

Hi Cua0,
Is this still for sale?
Thanks in advance,

Plus if the ring was in the "top 3" it would be worth alot more than $500.....
Not to hack in on your thread, but selling a diamond saying its in the top "3" is like selling a car with a description of "it has a motor and drives"
More info would definately help sell your ring. Go get an appraisal, its only like $20.00 at most jewl. shops.! :D:D
Goodl uck with the sale  |

yes it's still for sale, lots of interested parties, but everyone seems to want an appraisal.
I'll have it appraised on friday. that's when i'm going into town next. |

no worries, i'm only going off what i remember when i bought it, the lady showed me the chart and it was in the top 3 rows of clarity or whatever they are. i know it's not a whole lot of info, i apologise for that. as i said if nobody takes it for 200 before friday i'll take it in and get it appraised.
my wife says that jewlery values have increased in the last 5 years quite a lot. i don't know much about diamonds or jewlery, i'm just trying not to take a bath on it, ya know? i figure if i paid 500 for it, selling it for 200 is pretty fair. someone else stated that it might be appraised at more than 1000, since the market has changed so much. i don't know. but yeah, i'll take the advice and get it checked out, maybe have it cleaned & polished or whatever too. |

My g/f said she remembers that ring, did you buy it at northgate peoples when it was still around?
regardless,
She is a manager now at city center, she said you can trade it in, but you need to double your purchase price.
If you live in red deer, they wont do that for you, but she will. |

.
Top 3? so it would be either Flawless (FL) internally flawless (IF)
or Very very slight inclusions (VVS1) ... None of those would be anywhere near the 400.00 pricerange. If anything it could be a SI-1 SI-2. Im thinking its a .25ctw from the pic.
PS, the ring is discontinued, so if you wanted a wedding band it would have to be custom made.
and refer to my last post. |

Dude don't be a dick.
I've read through this thread and cua0 has been nothing but helpful to all of the potential buyers. I just went shopping for some jewelry for the gf and this is an extremely reasonable price if the ring is what he says it is.
Great job on the sale. Many people would have lost their patience by now. Hopefully the ring goes to a great home! |

I took it in to the jewler yesterday and had her look at it, without a complete appraisal she says it's worth at least $700. I definately want to get my full asking price as i think it's more than fair.
here is some information she gave, some is new some is not.
14K yellow gold ring w/hearts
approx I2 center stone

thanks again.
