G/f's friend got shot. - Click HERE for Original Thread

S2KPWR
this fucking city is getting retarded.

S2KPWR
and once she seen that pic, she almost fell down...

Thanks the Edmonton SUN! great pic! fucktards.

S2000_rider
Wow, I'm very sorry to hear about this. I live in Riverbend so it's pretty close to home too. My condolences to your friends family.
:(

SketchifisT
thats a pretty bad picture for no warning. I know why they did it ... but still thats a little disturbin for no warning and for family and friends to see.

Sad to see stuff like this happen. My prayers and sympathy goes out to your GF and his family and friends

S2KPWR
Supposedly they found a bag of drugs on him..

You play the game.... goto expect it i guess.

I didnt know him, so its not hard for me, just my g/f is in tears..

SketchifisT
Just because he had drugs doesn't mean he deserved to die. Yes it doesn't make him completely innocent but i know a fair amount of people who have turned there lives around after being in a bad spot.

Sad to see.. and its worse since its a gang shootin that some respect is lost. Unless he was dealing to kids or pregnant women .. i dont really think he is any less of a person

That's the sun for you, sometimes people don't realize how disrespectful showing a picture like that is, but when it's finally someone you know it's a definate kick in the crotch after a tragedy.

RS13
Yea it happened about 5 block from my house. Very tragic. This city is fucked

makes me wonder. i know the eps are makin some serious cash off our "enlarged exhausts" what programs are they going to? sure enough none to prevent shit like this.

sorry to hear about your girlfriends friend.

Honda_Finatic
wow... i think we may have broken a record for homicides here in edmonton..... 36. A big city like Toronto is up to 42 i believe... funny how a smaller city like ours isn't far behind.

Soulfly
Why do Some Edmontonian's Think They are Gangster's??

Seriously.. We Live In Canada.. Not The US. and In L.A or something? What's the deal here? :dunno:

Can't we just Play Curling .. and Get along In Our Igloo's?

You really can't blame the police for things like this. EPS has recently expanded their gang unit and they now work closer with Capital District RCMP detachments to gather information on gangs. Sorry, I am just assuming this is gang-related. It could very well not be.

Drugs were involved, but EPS does have drug education programs.

It's a shame. I hope there isn't the common eruption of voilence over the Xmas season this year. The city doesn't need it.

My sympathy goes out to the victims friends and family.

if i saw a picture of a friend like that i'd freak out too.

With a booming economy and an influx of people with alot of disposable income, drugs/gambling/other vices will take a bigger foothold.
I don't think the Capital region is that much smaller than Toronto either come to think of it.

Edit: point made

Condolences to the family and friends :(

GTA 4.4 million as of 2002, i think we are a little behind

Tech2
Families from across western canada moving to be close to gang members in alberta's maximum security prisons don't help the situation either. Then when these guys get out they have a conveniant place to stay and get back on their feet. It's one reason Edmonton has a disproportionate amount of crime.

Maybe they need more support durring/after their stay?

So now you blame the EPS for this, not "preventing it"?

Why not blame those involved? Those who support the gangs directly and indirectly?

You know what, I used to ask and say the same thing. But overtime, you'll come to realize that it doesnt matter if you are living on a farm in Saskatchewan or in a major metropolitan area in the US. Influence through music and TV and now the internet spreads fast. And in general, where ever there are people there are idiots. Evolution doesnt work fast enough.

With all thats going on in the city I think they really need to start throwing the book at people commiting crimes using weapons. Look at all the stabbings that are happening. Give these people some serious jail time and maybe others will think twice.

Agreed. Locked up in jail, maybe... dead, no. All of this type of violence is senseless.

Being *involved* with gangs and/or dealing drugs implies certain moral and ethical choices. But you are free to associate with whoever you like. I would knowingly choose not to and stay clear.

Still doesn't make me afraid to walk on the streets. For the most part, the violent crimes are happening to people who have chosen to live a "risky" lifestyle. 99% of the people in the city have almost nothing to worry about and shouldn't waste their time worrying.

For the average person you are still more likely to be killed in a car accident than be involved in a violent crime and you don't see people stop driving just because of it.

The problem is that eventually a innocent person is going to get hurt or even killed because of these retards. As far as I'm concerned you made your bed now lay in it!!!!!!

Unfortunately that's already happened. Remember that girl that was shot dead on her way home from the bar on her 18th birthday? That happened just a month ago or so I think.

SilverZ24
I agree, those are the ones I don't like to hear about.

If you look at the homicides for 2005 "risky" lifestyle does not necessarily play a part. Out of the 36 murders that have happened in this city there are quite a few that have nothing to do with gangs, drugs, prostitution, city life, ect. Look at the cases of Tony Doyle, James Wilson, Nina Louise Courtepatte, Hassan Mohammed Yussuf, Philip Peter Fisher, Douglas Milmine, Alexis Grant, Kevin Edward Kozicki, Dilbag Singh Sandhu, Liana White, "Dan", Robert James Larkin, Denis Beaudoin, Adrian Vern Jacobs, Sara Easton, Ronald Edward Funk, Dave Mullen, Olivia Marie Talbot, and Caleb Merchant. Some of these are just from senseless robberies, stupid altercations at or around bars, domestic disputes, arson, and random beatings.

Hi S2KPWR,

Perhaps I was looking at the wrong pic? All I saw was a picture of an officer taking a picture of a pool of blood? Was there more? I guess I am just desensitized to all these pictures and they do not effect me. Perhaps I have seen so much gore from movies, real life, TV that it does not bother me. No offence is meant by my comment.

Sorry to hear about your GF friend. I have a friend that lives in the same appt building. My condolances go out to her friend and their families.

Regardless of what he's done in the past, I'm sure he didn't deserve to die lying in a pool of his own blood, in the snow on a freezing cold dark morning.

The front page of the Sun had him lying dead on the pavement. It's not the first time they've went to this extent to produce some shitty ass story. The media turns my stomach.

Hi n0c7,

Thanks for the info. I do not subscribe nor read the Sun. To me the paper ranks on the same scale as the National Inquirer. . Do not get me wrong, the Sun is great if you are looking to buy a vehicle, or looking at the Sunshine girl. :D

I will see if I can get my hands on a copy of the Sun. I know a few people still may have a copy kicking around. I suppose that if you flip through any paper you will see the same type of canage on display. It would just be in different forms and even from different countries. I hate to say it but bad news, carnage, and violence sells. People buy into that and eat it up as if it were their last meal.

the_fornicator
my condolences.

but some of you people are being way too fucking overdramatic.

play with fire, you get burned. not like the consequences were unknown.

personally, that's one less fucking drug dealer in my god damn neighborhood. keep that shit in the shady parts of edmonton. dragging that shit to his parent's house is disrespectful too.

Flex,

you hit the nail on the head. If our judges would hand out stiffer penalties then MAYBE it would deter some of these people! That and the fact that people these days don't take responsibility for their actions!!

Don't worry everybody, we're pretty safe here in Canada. Look at some of these 2004 U.S. city murder #'s in the link below compared to Edmonton's 28.

http://wid.ap.org/documents/fbi/ucr2004citylist.pdf

-New Orleans had 264 with a population under 500,000.
-Baltimore had 276 (also with a smaller population than E-town)
-Chicago had 448
-Detroit had 385
-New York had 570
-Philly had 330
-L.A. had 518

lilweiner
hopefully we can hit forty in this year..... that would be good... maybe a guy should start putting money into funeral homes.

We don't have the ghetto's / drug issues that those cities have, which is probably responsible for most of those deaths.
