Radar ticket - Click HERE for Original Thread

charlieboi
so i got a photo radar ticket, the ones where the cop stands there with a radar gun...
yeah i was caught goin 42 over limit....
how many demerits will i lose, and is there a chance of getting my license suspended on my court date?
this is my first ticket with a clean record, and im an idiot iknow.

keebler811
There are 4 demerits for that speed. Your penatly is just what amount the officer wrote on your ticket....you will not get a suspension. Consisder this your lesson learned...if you had been going just a little bit faster you would have been in the 50+ over range, which would have netted you a mandatory court appearance and a judge would decide your fate. The going rate right now is a penaltly of 6 demerits, a fine around $1500, and a 60 day licence suspension. Plead quilty, pay your fine, and slow the fuck down.

charlieboi
Yeah i defineitly learned my lesson, and ive already thought about what coulda happened if i went 8km/h more
i was already planning on pleading guilty and try to get a lesser charge, so i just show up on my court date, and do that?

thanks

keebler811
It's always worth a try to go and see what they say, but with that kinda speed I wouldn't be holding my breath.

charlieboi
Alright, hopefully i get to keep my license.....
it pays to slow down :)

I got a lawyer and beat a 125+ in a 60 zone.

Don't listen to this guy, get a lawyer and get 2 demerits. Thats what I did.

And that's what's wrong with our justice system...

You're a tool doing 125+ in a 60 zone.

:thumbdown

You don't know me or the circumstances. Keeping your opinion to yourself, little bitch.

Deleted original message...

Now you want to know about the situation instead of running your mouth? Get a clue buddy.

92_WhItE_H23
there was a rabid dog behind him ok.. he looked real mean and he had to get outta there stat! ahah jk jk.. anyways we all do stupid things on the road at one time or another.

as for going to court.. im doubting the crown is going to warm up to you much however if its true you had a clean record you might be able to bargain the demerits down if you offer to pay the fine.

I'll run my mouth whenever I please.... but you seem to think there's an excuse for 125+ in a 60 zone, and I'd like to try and understand where you're coming from.

So you not once ever in your life drove faster than let's say mmm 30km over the limit in the city..You could consider that reckless in the city.

thats good for you give your self a pat on the back but im sure you have never speed in your life also so..

95EagleAWD
There's a long way between speeding and "driving recklessly"

Some of you guys don't seem to get it that we all don't street race or blitz around town at double the speed limit.

There's reasons why I don't drive recklessly...

1. It's stupid. You never know whats around the corner..

2. I can't afford it. Ticketwise, or insurance or damaging my car... I simply can't afford it.

3. It looks pretty terrible to have a bad driving record when applying to Police Departments for a job... so it could literally fuck up the rest of my life.

Sure I speed. But I do it at the track and out in the middle of nowhere, where the only person I'm gonna hurt is me.

You got me pretty interested too. Just don't call me a bitch, ok?

95IntegraRS
Racing late at night, straight road with no one within a mile. But everyone jump to conclusions.

Tech2
I see. Maybe not the best decision, but I'm not one to judge. I'm curious as to what your lawyer did to help you out. Not sure if you can share it here, but' I'd be interested to know any tricks.

95IntegraRS
I didn't ask him about any technicalities. I just paid the man. He probably wouldn't have revealed any tactics used anyways. But I don't care if it was a good decision or a bad one, I just care that I won.

No, the cop wasn't within a mile when I dropped the hammer. Took him 3 minutes to catch up.
