i was wondering if you could tell me the diffrence between a s4 and s5 and what does that mean?is there any diffrence between a rhd rx7's or any diffrence for turbos or motors in the turbo or rhd rx7's?any anwsers would be much help.thanx

S4 is the 86-88 models

S5 is the 89-91 models

yes there are quite a few differences between the two but the differences are minor.... check out www.rx7club.com or www.nopistons.com and do some reading up on it as there is too much to list here.

They look the same from the outside - mostly. The S5 have round appearing taillamps and the S4 have rectangular appearing taillamps (the part that illuminates). There are differences in the engine components (external) such as the metering oil pump. The computer is also different. The 89-92 models will shut off the injectors if floored when starting - the 86-88 models will not. I seem to recall some engine components (internal) are lighter as well.

RHD models have different exhaust components (to clear the steering column). I know the turbo model exhaust manifold is different for example (from experience).

Front and rear bumpers are different, the side skirts are different, Different turbos, intercooler, rad, Gauge bezels are different. S5's had factory fog lights in the front bumper also, S5 front signal lights are longer then then S4's. Vent's/surround for the heat/stereo are different, so is the shift know, steering wheel. S5's also came with different wheels compared to the S4's.

The RHD S5 has 2hp more then the USDM S5. The RHD or JDM if you wanna call it has a different down pipe, there is no precat like the USDM's. I also believe that all USDM Turbo models came with sunroofs and the JDM one's had it as an option(i might be wrong on this one) JDM's had different side mirrors compared to the USDM.
