PTU vs. HKS Twin Power Ignition Amplifier. - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am going to be replacing my old style PTU this winter with either the new style PTU or the HKS TPIA.

I can get the HKS TPIA for about $150.00 US more than the new style OEM PTU.

I did a search on TT.net and found mixed reviews - some say smoother idle and smoother power delivery at top end. Others say that you only need it for higher HP / higher boost applications.

Anybody in E-town try it? Any feedback (good or bad)?

BTW, do you still use PFR6B-11B's with this or do you use a different plug?

thx.

never mind. I did some more reading and this mod looks like its a waste of money for me. I guess newer style PTU is what it'll be for me.

BINGO!! We have a winner. Glad you discovered that for yourself. :D

And if you still have an old-style PTU then the clock is ticking and a new PTU should absolutely trump a useless frivilous mod on priority.

You bet. Placing the order for my new-style PTU this week.
