Canadian Police Inormation Centre - Click HERE for Original Thread

GOT BOOST
Hi Everyone,

Recently I had watched with great interest this news story on stolen vehciles. In the story there was a site you can check a VIN through the Canadian Police Inormation Centre (CPIC) to see if the vehicle is stolen. This is great if you are looking at purchasing a pre-owned vehicle. One can also search by licence plate too, If there is a vehcile in your area that looks suspicious or you think is stolen.

This info was provided with the story, that was run about people writting down the VIN of a car, going into the dealership and purchasing new keys.

Here is the link

That's cool as long as "is it stolen - yay or nay" is the ONLY information a license plate search will give you. The average public shouldn't be able to obtain any more than that, or it would probably breach privacy rights.

Hi Inzane,

Yes, it will let you know if the vehicle is stolen or not. No other info is disclosed, so it can not be used as a shopping list if the information has been transfered into the wrong hands. :D
