Hi Everyone,
Recently I had watched with great interest this news story on stolen vehciles. In the story there was a site you can check a VIN through the Canadian Police Inormation Centre (CPIC) to see if the vehicle is stolen. This is great if you are looking at purchasing a pre-owned vehicle. One can also search by licence plate too, If there is a vehcile in your area that looks suspicious or you think is stolen.
This info was provided with the story, that was run about people writting down the VIN of a car, going into the dealership and purchasing new keys.
Here is the link

That's cool as long as "is it stolen - yay or nay" is the ONLY information a license plate search will give you. The average public shouldn't be able to obtain any more than that, or it would probably breach privacy rights. |

Hi Inzane,
Yes, it will let you know if the vehicle is stolen or not. No other info is disclosed, so it can not be used as a shopping list if the information has been transfered into the wrong hands. :D
