| I dunno why but poeple always slam showcars, calling them rice, just becasue the owner wants to make their car look good. I think people should respect those who decide to go all show. |

sometimes it's really hard to differentiate between SHOW & RICE
i find it hard myself
it seems that RICE has jus become a generic term for "#### that's ugly" or whatever
ex. Calling altezza lights RICE<p>that's not rice because the owner doesn't THINK it makes him go faster, but ppl STILL call it rice because they think it's ugly

| Nothing wrong with Showcars. But sometimes people take "show" so far its almost offensive. Somone posted a pic of a BMW honda civic or something. It was black and it looked like the beaten child of several sports coupes (BMW namely). If you have a show car at least have some class. I guess how it looks is a matter of personal taste, although I would say some things defy common sense (if its a honda don't put BMW emblems on it! same goes for any other make). |

| I agree with most comments, but as show get's more and more competitive, people have to do more drastic/dif stuff to be unique. Most are misses, but you got to hand it to the guys who are brave enough to try something. |

| I think show is great as well, I'm still amazed at all the things that can be done to a car based on looks alone.<p>This is what gets me, and probably alot of other people around here too:<p>Certain people try to pass off "show" as "go". just because you look fast, doesn't mean you are. <p>The size of your spoiler doesn't determine how fast you are. And certain people with this sort of "upgrade" on otherwise bonestock cars drive like total asscracks. |

| Gaps, I can see what you are saying, and I really don't have a case against people who go show.. I'll give you an example of what my point of view is:<p>Some person with a car with a really sweet paintjob and bodykit, beautiful chromies, phat rubber, and a slammin' stance. Awesome car. But if he's got minimal mods, that's ok too... (this next part is what I don't like)<p>Just because the car looks like it's doing 200MPH sitting still doesn't give the driver the right to drive like a prick, cutting off everyone is sight in a effort to get out in front, come face to face with a Neon and get their ass wooped.<p>It's the people with the wrong mentality that get me. Racing stripes doesn't make your car faster, just because Joe/Jane blow comes armed with a bodykit and a "Turbo Power" sticker doesn't mean that they'll be able to take down the next Cobra 'Stang they come along, nor does it give them the right to drive they're blind in one eye and deaf in one ear.<p>That's my beef. Personally, I wish my car looked as good as some of the other cars I saw at V8less!... |

| Well here is my 2 cents worth....<p>Cars like anything else need Balance....Repat Balance.......There should be a balance between Show and GO... If a car is all show it is out of balance. It looks like it could out drag and outcorner a Lamborgini Diablo but its a gutless econobox under the hood. This just doesnt fit and people find it almost offensive. Like someone is insulting their inteligence when it comes to the car. The same goes fo cars that are extremely fast but look like shit. No one will automatically say Man thats a sweet ride...No it isnt, you wouldnt want to be seen in the car cause its a rust bucket POS. Who cares if it goes good. I believe its all a matter of balance unlike other things.<p>For example who cares if a girl is hot looking if she is a complete MORON, LOOSER, ALCOHOLIC, DRUGGY and shitty in BED. The same goes when you think of a Girl with great personality and smart but BUTT Uggly and FAT and stinky. i dont think anyone wants either girl mentioned above. I guess waiting to paint it after I put the new engine in so it won't get scratched during the conversion qualifies me as a unbalanced MORON.
I happen to like the sleeper look , it has made me $$$$$
and it keeps the punks from asking me to race every light. I can drive to work in peace!
I feel a good clean normal looking car that is fast is just fine with me , but who cares what I say because I'm a unbalanced moron.
Paul just remember when the Sun paper asks you if your as fast as you look , just say theirs cars that look slower but kick my ass.

| I agree with the idea of a balance of show and go...but Show does not have to be big spoilers and shiny mufflers, mixed with 6 colors of vinyl graphics and a white and yellow interior....I'm a personal fan of the sleeper look, a good clean looking car is timless, adding body kits and the color of the year really dates the car....I see it almost every day a 92 Honda civic with american Racing 5 stars and a body kit from 92'...well yes back in the day it was a nice car but it's very dated....the wheel's easy to change, but most people parted with the stock replacement parts so they can get rid of the body kit...Show can be a nice paint job, clean but custom interior, nice wheel tire combo, whatever...this creates a car that can look good for many years, and not have someone say "I remember when that was cool 5 years ago"<p>Just my Ũ.02 |
