okay... look how the AEM intake v2 designs it so that the it supposedly increased velocity/pressure going into the manifold.
but correct me if i'm wrong, but the process in which the air is taken in is by the suction from the engine no? because air is not pushed into the intake.
since the air is being sucked in, how exactly does it increase the velocity when it is being pulled in.. and not pushed in. it'd be easier to understand that the air density would increase a bit if it were pushed in.. but the air is just being sucked in from a smaller section. could someone please clarify this.
this also goes for bored throttle bodies that have the flanged effect. |

| Velocity increases as you decrease cross-sectional area. |

yeah but that's when you have something pushing behind it. not sucking it in.
i'm not entirely sure on how the physics of a vacuum works... that's why i'm asking
btw... i've been misinformed.. the advantage of the v2 isn't velocity centrally. |

well, if you get a venturi effect, it speeds air whether its being pushed or pulled.
look at the nozzle on an air compressor sprayer... it goes from like 12 mm ID at the hose to something like 5mm at the tip, then theres open space.
this makes the air leave faster which IIRC creates almost a vacuum effect just inside the tip.
yeah, i know thats probably the wrong wording, grade 11 automotives was a long time ago and i used to um smoke recreationally.... so sometimes things from back then are fuzzy.
the same effect is also in carburators and a lotta fuel injection systems. |

ClubEL (AzNBonD),
Dogstar is correct about the venturi effect. Velocity of air is going to increase in speed. But i think for the AEM V2 is the idea behind it is to have a large chamber of air. You notice that the tubing is very large. I think like 4inches. Just too have more air avaible. If you look at the dyno plots in the ad. You see that there is more low end power then the orginal CAI. Due to the large diameter of the tube.
If this is wrong please correct me.
I hope this could help you out. |
