Inter-racial Dating - Click HERE for Original Thread

So who here is dating someone different than their own race? Do you parent's care? Do you care if you're parents care?

It should not matter what nationality you are, as long as you are happy with the person. Unfortunatly, this is not always the case. Pressure from parents can be a big part, same with friend's influence.

Funny you guys should mention this. A girl in my office was just telling me how her sister dated a chinese guy for like 6 years. She really liked the guy and her whole family liked him too. But after 6 years the chinese guy's family still would'nt accept him dating a while girl. So they ended up breaking up.
That is so sad.... I know my parents used to be quite traditional like this, but they've opened up to the fact that if I meet a nice girl, they'll accept her.

i think that's pretty f*cked up.. think about it... we're in canada... canada is made up of lots of diff nationalities.. if parents bring your kids here the parents have to take into consideration that their kid will meet people of diff ethnic backgrounds... it really isn't fair to the child if the parents tell him/her who he/she can or cannot go out with... it's not their choice it's their children's...

pao true true i hope the meeting wiff michelle's parents go well wenever it's gonna happen. Interracial dating is common now we see it all the time. But personally i'd stick to my own ethnic group.

I'm dating someone white right now...haven't told my parents...just HINTED to them, and they freaked out. I'm 22, and they're still living in the dark ages as far as interracial dating goes. HAHAHAHHA...

I am a product of good mixing! I would have to say that Love is all we need... But if the situation is such that your family disagrees you should ask yourself...Are my parents racist or do they know something about life I don't know. I can say from personal experience that this was a lesson rice-scooped to me, and in the end I thanked my parents for their concern. Just consider that it might not be the person you are dating, it could be your maturity level and readiness.

yea vince wants pedigree children

It doesn't really matter at all what nationality your date is. What important is both know that care about each other and will try to solve any family inter-racial problems come to them.
I am so lucky not to have such parents and they very open mind about cultures and all my friends... They used wanting me to get a white girl because they though white got this cutest look

yea terry......yellow ppl r supposed to have yellow kids!

What about having childern when one parent is white, the other is not?

Scintillater
I don't think it's a big deal. I mean, I've seen same races get married and have just as many if not more problems that interracial marriages. I have really close friends who are halfies, grow up in normal homes, who's families have not been estranged with their parents, and its all good. Really...it's a case by case thing.

i guess it's all down to personal preferences then.
u can't force ur beliefs onto other ppl but wen i do see interracial dating it feels kinda odd but not in a bad way of course..mah 2 cents

u can't force ur beliefs onto other ppl......[/b][/quote]
Exactly.... I know this off a bit off topic but man it pisses me off when ppl force their religious beliefs on ohter ppl or think that their belief is correct and the only one...

Scintillater
It's alright to have your own beliefs and stand up for them, like debating, but I have to agree with you...forcing views is just not good. You antagonize people and also you just make people angry and alienated!
