| Had someone jump out of their car claiming I cut him off and threatened to punch me in the face around 4:45PM at the intersection of Castledowns Rd and 153ave. I tried to get his plate but I didnt have a pen handy and all I got was BYW-xxx. It was a newer model 2000+ 4 door dark grey/navy(it was dirty and dark so hard to tell) I believe Nissan Altima or similar, I honestly couldnt tell because I don't keep track of my family cars. He was in his mid 30's, brown hair brush cut and a beard. He had a red military sweatshirt on with a yellow crest. I have some contacts in the military but they don't know anyone with a family car and who fits the description. I believe he is in the military because of his looks, the shirt, and the area he was driving in. I want him charged with any road rage offense that he can be charged with. Anyone who lives on the northside or is in the military who might know who this is please contact me on here. Thanks guys. |

marroon sweatshirt... yellow crest...
could be PPCLI, or Field Ambulance... If he threated to punch you in the face, I'd say hes in my unit.. PPCLI.
that doesnt really narrow it down though.. There are more than 1200 PPCLI members in edmonton alone.
Did you cut him off?
I just got home aswell, its 630, I had a guy tailgate me cause I did a little fishtail while turning onto castledowns road. He was flashing his brights, so I pulled over and opened my car door ready to smash some face... But he blew by me and honked.
Everyone is a tough guy when they are in their cars. |

|
| n0c7 |
I signaled, looked, figured I had enough space to change lanes, did so, I musta made him slow down a little bit and he started laying on the horn and it went on from that. I could have easily jumped out and went at it but then I'm no better than him and then I'll be charged myself. Even if I did cut him off, he has no right to do what he did. I get cut off all the time, I blow a little steam, but I usually don't even use the horn.

| Sucks, if you see his car or the guy again... get the type of vehicle that should narrow it down, then if i see his car at work, I can get more info for you. |

If I see him again, I got his plate :D I've got my buddy Marc looking out too but he said all the guys in his unit drive big trucks. |

If you really want to nail him, he's bound to drive down that same road again if you caught him during rush hour. Just be there 15 minutes before the time the incident occurred, 15 minutes after it occurred and you should catch him within a couple days.
Of course, this is thrown off if he was just out and about, but if you caught him during the time people are typically driving to / from work, then odds are he was. |

How hard is it for a civilian to drive through the base within the parking lots - do the MPs typically stop you?
Since he says he has friends in the military, could he get them to drive him around the base? |

I used to drive around base all the time out of uniform no probs, if you do it at night thy're more likely to pull you over to ask wtf, but during the day.. prolly wouldn't do anything, unless they've changed in the past few years. |

Go to the nearest police station and file a report.
This way there is something on record. The police may or may not choose to do something about it. But be very detailed in your report and really stress that you were fearful of what he was going to do and the fact that he came out of his car looking for a fight.
Perhaps this isn't the first time he's done this and the police may already have him on record. |

n0c7 - Unfortunatly without witnesses you would not have a case to actually lay charges. It would be a case of your word against his. If he had a history of this type of behavour, then it might way a little in your favour, but still would be almost impossible for him to be actually charged with the offense.
Best thing you can do is if you get his plate number, then report him and at least that way he will be on record. |

There were a good 5 cars honking and waving at the stop light for him to shut the fuck up and get back in his car, I should have got their info instead of chasing him around trying to get the plate  One time I had someone back into me and take off, got his plate, no witnesses, the guy got a nice fine for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

Yeah I understand how you feel. Last year this dude was literally chasing me down on the highway...he got in front of me and slammed on his brakes. I almost plowed into the back of his car. I was so pissed. He then pulled up next to me and signaled for me to pull over. I am known not to back down from anyone (not saying this is a good thing) so I pulled over and so did he. We both got out of our cars on the side of the highway and were ready to go at it. My girlfriend was with me at the time and she got out and told me to get back into the car and told him the same. She was ready to beat down both of us, so he went back into his car and so did I.
Now that I look back on the situation, I realize what an idiot I was for even giving this dude the time of day for pulling over. It could have gotten a lot worse than it did, and Im glad nothing did happen. Getting a criminal record over something stupid like that would suck.
I learned to just let things go now. Its better this way in the long run.

Yup hes a mechanic, not sure which PPCLI though. I'll ask him. He's my neighbor and an awesome guy, always gives me a hand. I'm not sure which crest it was, but the shirt was very similar except it was just a sweatshirt and not a hoodie. My first guess would be crest #2.

Ya, I was run off the road, caused like $4000 damage to my car, I had a good vehicle description and driver description, and only the first half of the plate like you, any they didn't want to do anything either. I had color, make, approx year.. |

If you wanna drive a little over the limit, controlled.. fine.
If your a moron who doesn't know how to drive and lible to hurt somebody else.. damn straight I'm getting your ass taken off the road.
I used to drive like an ass, I use to take some traffic circles at break neck speed to the point where going half way was like dodging a pothole at 50. I lucked out, had a good idea what i was doing and never crashed, but had somebody complained about me and my driving, and I got a visit by the police... I would have smartened up a hell of a lot sooner.
The other night was a perfect example.. some lady almost sideswiped another car twice, then was all over the road, like a drunk, I called it in and tailed her, she left town, hit speeds of 140+, saw a semi last second who was turning off the highway from right in front of her. she was doing 100km/h and he was doing maybe 30 when she clipped him, she hit a ditch, then an approach, the approach is what fubar'd her, but lucky her cause I called it in there was a cruiser right behind me when it happened. Ambulance showed up 10-15 after she crashed a good 30+ km out of town. She wasn't drunk, she wasn't on anything that they could tell.. they still don't know the why..
But there are some people you do "rat" on...If it looks like the only person you'd hurt would be yourself, it's ehh whatever, but if you look like you could hurt other people.. damn straight your getting ratted on.
And I'm speaking as I said, somebody who should have been ratted on. |

People need to stop crying about things, people get cut off its a way of driving, especially in Edmonton.
I cut one guy off probably 12" in front of him because he wouldn't let me in so fuck him I'm not going to the next turn off just because this guy is being a cockface. So anyway he followed me and I pulled over and got out and he was crying about how he got my plate number and how he was going to report me and he was trying to make me apologize. I explained to him where he should put his paper with my plate number on it, how he was being the asshole in the first place, and then I gave him his apology. I apologized about how fat he was. |

I've got a great story about road rage, actually 2 stories about road rage. Going north up St. Albert trail one day with my brother in his truck. We switch lanes into the right lane. Next thing we know this old caravan with a family of 5 pulls up beside up and starts swerving like hes going to hit us. My brother pulls into the superstore parking lot. The rust bucket cuts us off in the parking lot. This fat old slob runs out of his van starts banging on my brothers window, I'm like "thats it this guy is getting his A** kicked infront of his family," my brother is all like "no, i'll call the police." Picks up his phone, the other guy reaches into his pocket, I yell "F*** hes got a gun." My brother practically does a burn out in reverse trying to get away from the ass. Scariest road rage incident ever. I think he had a cell phone in his pocket though. Good way to set a good example for your children though.
Then the second time, I was driving slow in my talon north on 97st(by slow I mean I accelarated slow off the light on 153ave and 97st then and was doing the speed limit). An old red chevy truck cuts me off slams on his brakes, I slam on mine, narrowly avoiding a collision. I with my fast car, dowshift cut him off, hit my brakes, kept slowing down, signaled onto the shoulder, looked in my rear view mirror and thought good, my plan is going according to plan. I stopped on the shoulder just before the save on foods, opened my door slightly saw the guy get out of his truck in my mirror, closed my door(and locked it). The guy runs over to my car, I rev the engine up and moved forward about 5 feet, the guy runs back to my car, I flipped him the bird, reved up the engine dropped the clutch turned right to go into the save on parking lot, saw the guy get back into his crap mo'bile, sped through the save on lot then the cantrash lot pulled back onto 97st and guess who was still behind me? If you said poop truck boy your right. This time I was in no mood to mess around, so I just tromped on the gas the guys truck was hopeless in keeping up with me, I hung a right at 167ave and 97st., and that was the end of Phil's adventure, it was a good one. |

heh.. there's a crzy guy up in that area.. well prolly more than one... dude walked in to Rona and just outta the blue smacked my mom upside the head with a piece of wood, then a few min later comes back all smiles and tries to pay for something...
I have on.. I might have told this on here before...
I was on my way home in my 86 D50(3/4ton mini truck, with a bad ass rear bumper, prolly stronger than the frame). I'll admit I was in a hurry, so I catch up to 2 people doing 10-15 under the limit on good roads, so I creap up behind the guy in the left lane they're side by side, I got close, but still a safe distance behind, not tail gating.
I back off 10-15ft, creep up again, I do this a couple times hoping the guy will catch the hint and either speed up or slow down and move over. He doesn't.
Well the car in the right lane turns off, so I signal, hop in that lane and go to pass him doing 10 over, he speeds up to match. So I speed up a little, so does he. Now we're doing 80+ between M.E.LaZerte and Londonderry Mall, heading east on 144th... just about to get to the first cross walk.. so I nail the brakes, he tries to match so while he's braking, I jumped back on the gas and got infront of him, cause wel I needed to turn left relatively soon.
Well my turn comes and he's literally on my ass, and I didn't want him following me home... so i kept going straight, he was right on my ass, I was doing about the speed limit.... so I sped up to get some breathing room.... he crept up.. he was so close I could only see half his windshield.
I saw some soccar uniforms ahead crosing the road, so I hit the brakes, lucky him he saw them too I guess and backed off right before I hit the brakes.
I stop for the kids, he stopped right on my ass. They're across and I took off, he caught up and rode my ass again, so I decided to test his reflexed 80km/h in a 50zone, I drop the clutch in 2nd.... basically I slowed down real quick without brake lights. He didn't hit me. So I take off doing 60. 50th comes up, I'm like "Ok, fine, lets see how far you wanna take this" I was gonna turn left on 50th, and head out the the highway... and see how far out of the city he was willing to follow, but I got held up for some traffic and 50th, he pulls up right beside me, between both turning lanes, gets out of his car and starts screaming.... ok, I had a competeition stereo in that truck, sunroof open, so he heard it... and he still stood there yelling at me.. I neer heard what he said though.
Had not been fresh out of major back surgry, I prolly woulda got out and yelled back at him, something to the extent of "You know asshole, my mom just had a heart attack and I'm on my way to help her, cause of you she could be dead now" which was only a little white lie..my mom did have a puminary embelism... she was in alot of pain, but came through fine. |

I'd just let it go and forget it.
It sounds like the guy thought you did cut him off and in that case from his perspective YOU were the asshole.
But unless he actually started throwing punches you can't claim self defense. If you just decided to kick HIS ass for talking to you that would actually make you the bigger asshole in this situation and in the greater wrong.
Yelling at someone or being in their face doesn't justify an ass kicking any more than actually cutting someone off does.
The whole road rage thing is a tricky subject and often has two sides. I could see scenarios where the cop deems BOTH parties idiots and charge everyone involved. |
|
|
| n0c7 |
| Indeed Inzane, although after seeking legal advice, I could have plowed into his car killing 4 passengers and he still couldnt legally justify jumping out like that :dunno:. I've decided to drop it, I actually know who he is now too  |
