Precidia - Click HERE for Original Thread

mitsubitchy
Are these cars any good? i think its a 94 precidia my friend is selling for cheap and i might buy it. Its the V6 trim and was wondering if these are any good and any problems i should be aware of other then it being a chicks car. I just need it for a winter beater.

dsl55
I'd say if guys are choosing them for summer platforms, I'd say it's probably gonna be alright as your winter driver.

Kyle D.
Its a chick car.

The 1.8L V6 is the smallest v6 i think ever made. civic si's spank them. You can up grade to a 2.5L KL-ZE engine how ever. its a J speck and last time i saw one it went for $1000. Theres also the american 2.5 from the mx-6. both are all most direct fits.

with the right engine they can move.

-edit- ps. if its a winter beater get some good tires. its a very light car.

SilverNeonRacer
I know my wife used to want one, til she spanked one with her 96 cavailier

Nightstalker
If your just using it for a winter beater I would say go for it. From a performance stand point they are kinda iffy. Personally I think I am looking at a truck for a winter beater for next year. You can still have your car for the summer plus having a truck has such great functionality as a second car.

dsl55
Who cares about performance? He said a winter beater... It needs to keep ya warm, and get from point A-B.

mitsubitchy
Just checked the performance of the precidia for the hell of it and wow... its pretty damn slow, expected better from a V6...

Nightstalker
Even with the KLZE swapped in they are not really as quick as I would expect from the car of there size.

mitsubitchy
Is that KLZE engine, the one from the mx-6?

Nightstalker
ya the JDM one. the USDM MX-6 has a weaker verson I forget the engine code for it though.

they didnt make the actual KL-ZE here, the newer mx6's you see here have an "imposter" kl-ze

Honda_Finatic
as a winter beater... my suggestion is to go with it. As long as its mechanically sound.... the fact that its a chick car shouldnt phase you.

american version =klde

Regardless of it being a 1.6L I4 or the 1.8L V6, they're very reliable...as all Japanese-designed Mazdas are.

For sure, the 1.8L V6 isn't a powerhouse, but you can always install the 2.5L block from a MX-6 / 626, either the north-american market version at 165bhp of the japanese market version which is rated higher (but also requires the ecu and wiring harness to run to its full potential).

Parts may be an issue in the long-term, as the model was fairly limited to the north-american market, being as it wasn't a sales success in the US (they sold like mad in Canada, but we're just not enough of a market to justify a unique car north of the 49th). Model years are 1991-96 only. The majority of the suspension bits are shared with the 1990-95 and 1995-98 Protege (1990-95 and 1996 323 models as well).

Get it checked out at Abbey Road Automotive if you're seriously considering a purchase. Doug & Jim have more experience with Mazdas than any of the dealerships.

What kind of times / mods are you running in your car ? If I rememeber you were running mid 14s ? I would have to check my video from the SCCs a couple years back though. I know the car has a KLZE swap right ?

beatshack
you could also swap the mx-6 gt engine into it (turbo)

Kyle D.
buy your self a truck.

mitsubitchy
I would never buy a truck period. SUV at the least

You beat me to it. :p

darkjedi
i-4 1.6 mx-3 was the worst car I have ever owned..

Demolisher
My friend has one. My echo hatchback is faster LOL.
Aside from excelleration, it handles pretty good if you care about that. Chassis feels quite rigid, responsive steering and pretty flat cornering for stock suspension.

KRS-13
I remember racing a Precidia in my 180, he topped out and I was still in the top end of my 4th.
