clutch + 3 inch heels = ?? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Just had to say this -- may give some of you a laugh. ;)

Most of you probably think a stick shift and a girl in high heels is not a good combo. Funny thing is I've gotten so skilled at it, that now I have trouble driving in flat shoes!

If you were riding in my car today, you would have whiplash! Plus I stalled it! How bad is that? All cuz I had runners on!

So in case any girls are wondering (or guys who go in drag), I highly recommend a 5th gen civic for high heeled driving. Perfect pedal height from floor! I do NOT recommend a Hyundai Pony (oh those were the days)!

ae1969
I had contemplated high heels as well...........

I try to heel and toe on my car and the pedal placement is all wrong.

I may need to borrow a set of 4 inch pumps? Would you have a size 9 ?

:D

P.S If you drove a Pony Hyundai you are definitely brave. Those things were scary! Well when they actually started that is............

Hey, I can do better than a Pony! My first car (well, my parents loaned to me) was a 1978 Ford Pinto!

Don't laugh. It was in awesome shape and lots of people would stop and stare at it (until they figured out it was a Pinto). And I think the stories about blowing up in accidents are exaggerated...most sports cars back then would do that!

Funny how you drive a civic in high heels with no problem...My boss drives a stick shift 2005 Civic with heels and has no problems at all but when she tries to drive with flat shoes she says she's really bad at it.:dunno:

stick shift and a girl in high heels IS a great combo

Yup, it is a guy's dream isn't it? :D

But honestly, I think it's about the ability to prop your heel and just push the pedals with toes which one could do in a car with pedals closer to the floor without heeled shoes (Pony for example). In my Civic I have to stomp my whole foot down everytime. I guess I'm just a lazy driver or I need size 12 feet or somethin.

The Pony was hard tho -- you have to turn your foot outwards to push in the clutch so that your foot was perpendicular to the pedal and you'd just use your toes so the heel doesn't get in the way.

i know what your saying with the change.....i have to wear steal toe boots to work and they got a good inch or inch and half sole and i drive back and forth to work more then i go out...on the weekends when i hop in in like sandals or something i'll come close to stalling

Stop drooling. I bet you are way too young for me anyway.

Ha ha!

The best part about driving stick (as a girl) is that guys who can't get SO intimidated. I enjoy that feeling. :D

What your problem is , you have gotten use to the release point with your Heels so whats going on is you are confused with what your doing. ANd im going to go on a limb and say you were probably slippin / maybe burnin the clutch a bit more with the heels thus havin a better go with it.

Just get use to the release point of the clutch u will feel it.. just keep lettin it out slowly until the car is just about to stall and just at that point of the clutch u want to start addin gas and you are set.

For me i used to shift in bare feet and now everything since then is just awkward. And reason for bare feet was in the summer i wore sandals alot and i cant stand shiftin in sandals so i just drove bare foot...

My gf's mom drives her 350Z with heels all the time.

Hey! Again I'm offended -- you sayin' I'm a bad driver?? :(
Actually, you are probably right. It's just so much nicer to just use the heel so that you never have to lift your foot. Like I said -- lazy! :)

OMG

My first car was a 75 Mercury Bobcat (The Mercury version of its ford pinto counterpart), Racing Green (Thats what I called the paint scheme), optional mud flaps, it was a beauty. Loved that car. :(
A potential death trap.....but hey I had wheels. It was no JDM  but it was a time when it was cool to just have wheels......... My parents had this thing about not letting me drive a car that had too much power.

I would say a wise decision.

DoubleDown
Uh oh... a female that drives standard, on these forums. I see a full Inbox in your future.

Cool! Mine was white with red stripes and red inside. And it had decent power but lots of idling problems. My dad still has it and someday I think I'd like to buy it off him (I have a weakness for old fords -- it's in my blood). It would have to be a summer car tho cuz it came from California so the body is in fabulous shape and I hate to ruin that by driving in the winter. Plus rear wheel sux when it snows!

DoubleDown:
Lots of girls can drive standard. I think. Maybe. It's not that impressive. When I become girl mechanic, that will be impressive. Then I do expect a full inbox. Hee hee!

The rust finally killed mine off.......... I ended up giving it to my sister. The floor rusted out until it fell off............ so she ended up using a sheet of plywood for the floor. The thing would not die.

bluesuburbansky
Your poor sis. That's pretty funny.

My dad loves those cars cuz they are so simple to work on so they can run forever if you know how to fix them. No computer, good old carbs, no power anything, cheap parts...

ohonelude
I drove my buddies golf up to the hill in Fernie over newyears in a pair of snowboard boots, that was a bit different.
