kyuu
Is that your RX7 in the Edmonton Journal driving section this morning???

NICE MAN!

SilverZ24
I saw that too. Good job on the article Matt Haase. :)

And I noticed you had two articles this week. Congrats.

kyuu
The guy who did the article is a member of 780tuners?

ChromeDragon
Yeah, the article was originally supposed to run back over the Christmas break but it got bumped.

I've gotta start cranking out an article or two a week here, make some money to buy a house. hehe:thumbup:

baker_jeff
Do my car Matt!! Make it famous! Its bright, and yellow, and tiny, and cool! :fingersx:

Turbo_Civic92

Matt writes decent articles, its just too bad that most people won't know what the hell he's talking about. His articles sound like they are straight out of a magazine and thats what I like.

DelSoln
Very good article. I like how credit was given out to the people that made it happen.

I know it's none of my business, but this has me curious.

Writers get paid on a per article basis by a newspaper?

ChromeDragon
It all depends. For freelance, yes. For staff writers, no.

RS13
Nice articles

but what does "a special to the journal" mean by your name.

Whats the plan once you run out of Cars worth writing about ?

I'm assuming that its noted as such because he is working freelance, not employed by them as a staff writer..

good work Matt, keep it up

Well there are always new cars coming along and there's also a whole lot more than just car profiles.

Dave has it right. Special to the Journal is just the freelance moniker.

raidar
Well done!

qualthar
Awesome job Matt, these two articles actually made my day yesterday

redbaron303
vERY well written! :) The online articles had no photos, would the printed versions from the paper? (Just curious)

kyuu
Yes the newspaper has photos. I have the paper but no scanner nor website to put them up on

Dan_s_young
Very awesome, its great to see that im not the only person who is obsessed with the RX7. I am learning more and more day by day about how many Rotorheads are actually in Edmonton!

Turbo_Civic92
ya good guy deserves the attention great article!!

Nice to see an article on a rx-7 for change, but there are alot of technical holes in that article that should have been cleaned up, it reads kinda funny in that sense... That seems to be the pitfall of automotive articles
quote:
On top of this, the car was given an assortment of HKS goodies including a boost controller to prevent any more apex-seal-shattering 20-pounds-per-square-inch boost spikes.

First off 20 psi doesnt shatter apex seals... But this is what really seemed odd...

Several other Blitz parts made their way onto the RX-7, including an SBC-ID boost controller and power meter, along with a Blitz turbo timer.

So boost controllers prevent boost spikes and this car has 2 of them?..

I like to see import coverage, especially mazda stuff, given that 99% of the time the rags always feature old domestic stuff. But there has to be some attention paid to the details otherwise to anyone with any knowledge of car or aftermarket basics, it reads made up and just further confuses the ignorant... I was almost waiting for the motec exhaust in the last paragraph...;)
Nice car, the article doesnt do it fair justice imho..

bluciv93
sweet article

Honda_Finatic
was a good read

20psi can shatter apex seals when you do not have sufficient fuel and detonation blows the engine apart. I was just going off what Rad told me caused the engine failure.

The car does not have two boost controllers, Rad upgraded from the HKS to the Blitz. He was not running a boost controller when he was trying to get the stock turbos functioning, so yes, the boost controller he installed helped avoid the spikes that happened.

I like constructive criticism, but when you say I have a lot of technical holes it makes it sound like I'm not doing my job. I hope that this clears up any problems that you may have had with the article.

Cava_lierboy
I've seen this RX-7 around and at shows ... looks great and I like RX-7 too ... but can't afford to maintain a rotary .

I too would like to see the article and like to see the pics. ... if any.

The article reads how it reads, no matter how you slice it.

Dual solenoid boost controllers such as the SBC-iD will prevent boost spikes.

Ignorance is bliss.
