| well if u plannin to stick wit that car i dun got suggestions, but i just heard its a slower car for the engine size and shit, even the 6cyl one, mabbe get a talon tsi for speed, or sumtin else tho, gl |

| not much for speed in that department other than a klde/klze swap then your looking at a quick car. My advice, sell it buy a talon or civic and do a swap. |

yikes why an auto? if u want a fast auto look into a jdm car that no one wants cuz most ppl don't like autos so u should be able to find one for a good price |

haha I could live with getting my miata up there too lol, but its not that easy, to get my 1.8 up to 180rwhp I'll be running 8psi of boost, and it should be pretty quick then. Just saying that if u want power you should find another car to start with.:) |

There are turbo kits for it, and the 200hp swap is the klze engine a fine v6, 8k redline...very nice to say the least, but start off with the basics, intake, headers(if u want/can) and exhaust, upgrade your ignition (wires/coil) and it'll atleast seem atlot faster lol:thumbup: or just save save save until u canm afford a decent power adder(turbo/engine swap) good luck with the car...hey atleast its a mazda:thumbup:   |

get a neon (just some old beater thats an auto) swap in a 2.4 from a stratus, throw in some crane 18 cams, cam gears, and other bolt-ons ...
or get a 2.4 from a stratus swap in srt-4 internals and put on an srt-4 turbo...
either way you spend about 1500 plus the cost of the car. and be as fast as hell... |

| actually i heard those things are very similar to for escort gt... mechanically speaking. with that being said, look into a j-spec gtx bpt engine. its a turbo 4 cyl with 176hp and ft.lbs trq. Just to warn you, mazda's small engine's autos sap a lot of power, are made of the the finest glass and generally are swapped out because of that. The 5spd manuals however, (found in 90-94 protege's, 91-96 ford escort gt's) are fantastic. People have used them on their 300hp engines for years without any problems. |

The GTX swap is a major hassle from what I've heard & if you were going to go to all that trouble may as well do the GTR swap (210hp as opposed to 180hp). When I was 16 or so I looked into doing up a Precedia as a sleeper car, it just wasn't feasable. The best you could do is a KLZE swap, because it's relatively easy for 197 hp I believe, but that's still $1500 for the J-spec engine. My opinion is if you want a performance Mazda car for cheap, you can't do any better than the FC RX-7s.

good luck finding the gtr engine. They're hard to find. I wasn't sure how hard it is to install but i thought it was completely bolt-up. change the ecu, tranny, axels, engine, harness type of thing |

| I have 2 cars. Cars are my a big part of my lifestyle. Not just my hobbie. What kind of fast are you looking for. If your planning to go drag/street racing the mustang is a way better choice then pretty much any import. |

| Paulwall , the 95 Stang GT is a great choice... The last year for that SN95 bodystyle that doesn't have the 4.6L mod motor (it was weak from 96-98). That car has huge bang for the buck options, and the 5.0L has a huge aftermaket following. |

| im not lookin for anything big just enought to beat a few talons, civics and lancers at the lights. quite a few of my friends/family race here and there so i thought it would be cool to get a relitivily good car and c if i could get my foot in the door, i also figure since i have the precidia and love it i might as well c what i can do with it and another question so u have any idea how much hp a stock precidia MX3 has the guy who sold it to me wasnt sure im i cant find it on the internet for some reason:dunno: any thoughts? |
|
|
| LeadSled |
| Well if you sell the precidia and can get the GT for that price, mods and whatnot will be cheaper and more rewarding IMO... Plus its RWD. Slap a nice cam and some longtubes on that 5.0L and you'll be quicker than the majority of the cars out there. There's so many easy and cheap ways to get power. |
|
|
| Nightstalker |
| Hate to tell you this.. But its getting harder and harder to beat cars like the ones you listed. The majority of the fast talons around are running low 13s or better now. Most civics manage at least a 15. It will take a lot of work to get your precidia there. I belive they are likley around the 100 - 120 WHP. I find it extreamly hard to belive it would be any more then that stock. |

| looks like youre in the same kind of rut i was in when i started driving. I just listed what i wanted in a car and looked at what was available. I ended up getting a mazda 323 gtx, but you'll probably have a different aim... unless youre also into turbo awds |

| whats the deal with a 1993 ford probe gt any better than a precidia cuz ican get one of those for like $1500 |

i would assume you'd be happier with a probe, its not considered a chick car, it has a better engine. |

Even though I'm not a fan on Ford in any way, I do have to say that Mustangs with a 5.0L engine are probably one of the cheapest car to make fast. They have just a massive aftermarket following. For what you want, quick off the line, a Mustang is near ideal. As for the GTR engine if you actually give a deposit to Corksport they will find you an engine, it may take a few months, but they will get it done (just pray you don't blow your engine).
