yah, it wasnt too bad...not scary at all..just insanely gruesome.....apparently the theatre my friend went to, some guy passed out, and they had to stop the movie for a bit and call paramedics and another guy puked :eek:

They were talking about this movie on the radio this morning...
Something about a guy who goes back inside to rescue a screaming girl. When he finds her, the guy is torturing her with a blowtorch to the head...
I remember when David Lynch put out twisted crap, but it was just twisted, not gruesome. |

Well I heard Rob Zombie did alot re-editing of his movie to keep it rated R because it was in danger of being rated NC-17.
Apparently the same thing with Kill Bill vol 1. I read that in the middle of the big fight scene with the crazy 88's Quentin was forced to make that part b&w to avoid an NC-17 rating for having too much blood & gore. |

the differance is soem oen under 18 can go to a R movie if they have someone over 18with them . NC-17 only 18+ |

Are you talking about Canada?...if it's rated R no one under 18 is allowed even if they were going to go with an adult...just like the NC-17 rating in the USA.
18A is the movie rating where you can watch the movie if you go with an adult (18+) in Canada, this would be the same rating as the American "Rated R" |

I actualy thought this wasn't a half bad movie..
The first spot of gore doesn't happen until 45 minutes in and that part is pretty tame.
I think the worst was near the end, We'll refer to that as the "blowtorch eye snip" scene.
Overall, the plot was fairly decent (based on true events apparantly) there was decent acting, decent revenge, decent gore.
I liked it :) |

I too watched the movie a few weeks back. I did find it to be somewhat dissapointing. I think there was too much "Road Trip" involved. I found it hard to get into and keep my attention.
I feel that if there was more explanation as to why Tourists were hunted for cash, tortured etc and less road trip about a bunch of kids trying to tap ass. I think it could have been good. Too many plots going on at the same time.
However chasing the T and A made a nice addition! :D
It was almost as dissapointing as Wollf Creek. Less scream, more action and intense scenes. :D
Overall Hostel 4/10 for plot and acting. 10/10 for creep factor.

| Just finally watched this one...I'd say its a 5/10. Nothing special here, kinda neat idea with the cost of ppl ect (won't spoil it for anyone). I'd say don't bother renting. |

I didn't like it. I enjoyed seeing the chicks look super hot at night when they're all dolled up to go out and then turn super ugly the next morning with the bags under their eyes all discheveled. I chuckled at that. All in all, the plot was substandard. It just seemed to me that the entire movie was an excuse to be as gory as possible.
I give it 2/10. Of course my horse. |
