I know some of you hate the new Impreza, but I think the S204 is hot!

The Limited Editon Impreza S204
As its predecessors S202 and S203, the new Impreza S204 will only be available in Japan. This special edition model will be limited to 600 examples, and each of them will cost about five milion japanese yen (approx. $40,000) when it debuts on January 13th.
The modifications include a reprogrammed ECU, new pistons, crankshaft, exhaust and an upgraded turbocharger. This helps the S204' 2-liter engine to 320 bhp and 319 lb-ft of torque.
The Impreza S204 shaves off 13 lbs with lighter BBS wheels. A stiffer suspension lowers the car by about half an inch.
The interior differentiates from the standard Impreza WRX STi by an exclusive steering wheel, aluminum inserts with engraved serial number and Recaro bucket seats.
The customers will be able to choose between three colors: WRC blue, grey and black.

It's odd how Japan has stuck with the 2L since we'll get the 2.5L.
Nice car though. I like the calmer look of the rear spoiler. |

North America is the only place with the 2.5. Europe and Japan get the 2.0L |

| I would prefer the 2.0L engine they have in Japan and Europe. Aside from being tried, tested and true, it remains true to it's rally heritage. |

Well, with the increase in displacement that we north americans get, it makes 300/300 (HP/TQ) at 6000RPM/4000RPM respectively with a redline or 7000 vs 320/319 at 6400RPM/4400RPM and I have no idea what the redline is on the S204, I'm guessing 7500?.
Now I'm only speculating but wouldn't the increase in displacement mean a more accessible powerband through the rev range?.
I poured over the 2.5 STI review in SCC and they do seem to think it is easier and fun to drive with the larger discplacement and revised front/rear torque bias and they remarked that is was smoother than previous versions as well.
I hate to say it, but I'd opt for the larger motor. |

Love the power train and suspension setups on these cars.......
But why is every manufacturer starting to look the same. Someone has to change the look already. :( |

For sure the bigger displacement means more power early before the turbo kicks in and no doubt it will perform and respond better than a smaller displacement engine with a larger turbo but 2.5 litres is not rally legal.
The Impreza was born for rally competition and that's where it's heritage lies. I feel that going to 2.5 litres is a step away from it's heritage.
It's just the way I feel, I mean I've always wanted an Impreza or Evo when I first saw them tear up the dirt roads.
Kind of an emotional attachment I have I guess? |

Well I can see where that emotional connection you have comes from :)
But I certainly am glad there are those in this world that think a different way. That "this motor" should be the only one available in "this car" because that's what it was born to do, may not be the right way of thinking.
If that were the case, we'd all be driving Daihatsu's or Lada's or we wouldn't have half the selection of turn key kick-assery that's available in alot of showroom floors.
I confess that I am a horsepower and torque slut, plain and simple. Even though it may be sacriligeous to step up in displacment, you'll have to count me as one of those guys in the section cheering for it.
If it spins faster, they lose quicker ("it" being a turbo :D) |

As far as I know, no one has put forth a replica yet |

| I can see the rally racers here getting a little annoyed at the increase in displacement. It totally screws them over using the rally classing system as far as I know. the 2.0L thing is the line in classing. |

| i love it, minus the ugly front part where the Subaru badge is. |

| The only part I find that doesnt flow is the rear. The front has a beautiful low stance and the back has its ass up in the air. The back bumper is too plain as well, they could have done better. The rest of it is slick. |
