Stolen Type R - Click HERE for Original Thread

Nimbusgti
Around 10am this morning a white Acura Integra type R was stolen from my apartment building. It is not my car. It belongs to good friend of mine. If you see the car or hear of any ITR parts for sale let me know. It was white with black steel wheels. Also had Spoon stickers and the rear side windows. Thanks.

chris f
Have any more detials? plate number? almost every integra thats white i see is a "type r" and coverd with spoon stickers, need somthing to narrow it down abit

bluecargirl666
sorry to hear a bout the car.. been a bunch of tuner cars stolen lately. civics, integras, preludes. Wonder whos eating up the market for parts?

92_WhItE_H23
yea its a shame.. im scared that i dont have a garage yet.. my alarm has gone off twice in the middle of the night in the last month or so and both times i was outside in less then 20 seconds because i sleep with my remote next to my bed. so id love to catch someone trying to jack it ..

DelSoln
What is the year and does it have a JDM front?

jasonturbo
and another ones gone and another ones gone, another bites the dust....

sorry I couldn't ressist, I just bought a b18c1 w/ ITR trans, and all of a sudden I'm loosing the urge to put it into anything.....

this city sucks balls.

I'm gonna buy one of those police things that go around your wheel so you cant move the car. or I'll just park it in my garage.

Nimbusgti
It is a 97 White Type R. It has Black steel wheels. The Spoon sticker Is black on the passenger side fender. It is number 474 of 500. I already fear that is has been cut up and parted out.

Who else, civic owners. Alot can be swapped from a r onto a hatch..

Although, im not hardly suprised this happened.. The R is the holy grail of theft.

DelSoln
So USDM front?? Damn 97 had no immobilizer either.

Nimbusgti
Yes usdm front. He had a jdm front on order.

kyuu
Ugh that's god awful. I would cry myself to sleep every night if my car was ever stolen

LMAO! Are you serious??? Thats fucking ingenious!

Nightstalker
Yes actaully, the engine is out so I can work on it. But it works as a anti thieft system aswell. Its unlikely that some would spend the time to pick up all the baggies of parts. Someone should sticky this.. Its a sad Day when a ITR goes missing. The cars are reasonably rare to begin with. :(

Please stay on topic.

I hate to sound like an ass, but it sounds like we are not using enough pre-emptive measures to prevent our cars from being stolen...

I do not park my cars at west ed. (we just take my girlfriends car hahahaha)

I do not park my cars at movie theaters (see above note)

I get a lock smith to re key my entire car so as to deter previous owners from jacking it

It's called a club (at least they will have to cut your steering wheel in half (like thats not heat bag)

simple power kill switch hidden under dash
(and yes I have done it)

Have fire and theft, cause then if it gets jacked , who cares, time for a new money pit. (ITR is exception, there wont be any of those left in a couple years)

I dont drive my cars everywhere, buy some junk ass car for 500$ to take to the mall/theater, I only take out things like my rx7 and my crx on friday and saturday nights when I wanna go for a bag. you appreciate it more if you dont drive it everyday.

as far as I'm concerned, some people must look like targets to car theives...

you gotta think like a thief....let's try...

"hmmmm "scratch scratch" man... I need some rocks"

never mind, it didn't work

sorry to the owner

Demolisher
I wonder if your saying my alarm wont protect my car.... So I should buy a club as well? I feel my car is so unsafe...

well somone said it... I was about to make the same post, really its only your own fault your flashy car got stolen when there is so much you could of done to prevent it by just being a little more concious.

and of coarse sorry to hear about your car getting stolen man, my post is not directed to you its to all the people out there that have cars thats are at a high risk of being stolen.

jasonturbo
thats it right there, although, it's kinda hard to un-advertise a type r....

club doesnt really help, just slows em down, if they know you have it, they will bring a hack saw, really the best solution is a ign power kill switch hidden some where, car theives dont hot wire cars, they just destroy the columnn, and use a screw driver.

alarm doesn't do shit for 2 reasons, one, they can unplug the alarm box, and it is always near the driver kick panel, second a siren is useless cause it takes 2 seconds to cut the wires going to it. Only thing that may work is a hidden siren (wiper cowl under neath is a really good spot) and hide the actual box somewhere.

to bad though,my summer car this year is going to be un-stealable, plus it wont be flashy.

madx
Sad to hear about this....

midnite
i'll keep my eyes open. keep us updated

Mathew
here are a few tips to add to the ones that were done alredy. if you know how to install an alarm then install it and have the module somewhere like behind your center dash or pretty much anywhere wher eit is hard to get too. cuz ur common thief knows how an alarm works. the module is mainly under the dash near the kick pannel! the siren wires are ran thru the fire wall and all it takes is one wire to cut and its not gonna work. starter kill is on 99% of the alarms on there so it is worth the 30 bucks to get it done if you arent doin it urself. install an ignition cut of switch somewhere that isnt easy to see but still easily accessible to you. always.... and i mean ALWAYS install a back up siren for your alarm and make sure that your door pin sensors and shock sensor are runnin up to par! if you are that concerned about theft and you want an alarm for your car. get a 2-way unit. a 1 way is virtually useless to you if you cant see or hear your car. the club is an o.k idea but it is so easy to cut the club and lets face it.. most of the cars that i har about being stolen from here have tinted windows so i doubt a cop is gonna be able to see that the wheel is cut.

another tip i have is when you are comming close to the area you will be parking your car... turn your fuckin stereo down cuz you are only drawing attention to urself from the thieves..... oh look at that civic with the bass screaming out of it... oh.. its parking right there eh! i shall be back in a bit to grab that stereo. 70% car thefts in the city are because of car audio equipment. the other 30% is for usless joy rides and parting out for car parts other than audio. hope this helps some people to realize that cars are so high at risk that you really need to watch wahts goin on around you!

Honda_Finatic
I've actually seen taht ITR on the road before... just not before it was stolen. I'll keep my eyes open for it.

BTW, what was the license plate on it anyways? Its probably taken off by now but you never know.

REFLUX
Too bad about this ITR :(
97 too :( :(

But as some have already alluded too, key to a "more" secure car is to layer on the anti-theft devices.

Ultimately, if someone really wants your car, there is nothing you can do to stop them.
Only to slow them down.

JonJonPoPong
Sorry to hear, it would help if you could post pictures...

Car is found!!!!!!! all that is left is the very lonely shell!!!! There is a reward to the person who has any information that leads to the capture of the jerks who took the car!!!

That sucks some serious balls. For all of you with Swaps or ones lucky enuff to have a ITR.. WRITE DOWN THE SN of your engine. Then if it ever gets stolen you can check other cars at car shows. Track this shit.

jasonturbo
what the guy on top of me said, if somebody jacks my motor, there gonna get linched for sure, by the cops, and some elite team of crack heads I assemble.

Honda_Finatic
that f*cking sucks! Those guys sure went to work fast.... just 2 days after the post they find the shell.... where did they find the car?

firestarter
Just outside of spruce grove!!!! Bits left on the car included, one piece of carpet, trunklid minus spoiler, taillights, mirrors and glass, everything else was gone, even the fuel pump!!!! The car was just sitting on the belly pan!!!!

midnite
sorry to hear :( what car are you going to get next?

rythex
It must be the same guys stealing all of the hondas around here.

I wonder if the cops are actually investigating this.. I don't understand why they don't invest $19,000 and buy a bait car..

I guess it's not as important as photo radar traps. :dunno:

edmonton is alot different from places such as vancouver or toronto where there are ALOT more career criminals that make a living out of stealing expensive cars..edmonton only has petty thieves who want parts..

jasonturbo
that wasnt a honda, it was an acura????

seriously, if you read that article about The most stolen vehicles in canada, you will see it's 99-2000 sir on top of the list, and 4x4 2500hd silverados right under it.

I think a chop shop is a chop shop, if there is an oppurtunity for them to steal it, they will, no matter what it is

How many silverados are found chopped to pieces I wonder???
we wouldnt hear about it.

it just seems more severe cause we see it, \

there was that chop shop in sherewood park doing full size pick ups, when they raided I beleive there was 27 trucks on the property

crazy

Wow, just read this, sorry to hear about your loss. This sounds like something i read on Hondatech, a couple times a week, but never really expect to see it here:( . That hits pretty close to home; our cars were like brothers, mine is '97 #452. Thieves need to have their hands cut off if caught.

Do you know if your friend is wanting to replace it with another itr or is he going to move on? I don't mean this to sound insensitive, but any idea what's happening to the shell?

JdmCrx
Really sorry to hear.. one of the reasons stopping people from buying Type R's.

RX_AGENT
^ Oh really? Ppl stopped buying type-Rs? I think they stopped selling type-Rs, not stopped buying...........

I don't think you understood what i said... what i meant is.. theft is one of the deterrents people think of when looking into purchasing a type R. I'm quite aware they are discontinued from production.

edit: oops wrong account.. that was jdmcrx.

92_WhItE_H23
no he means people arent deterred from buying them, because they cant buy them because no one is selling the ones they own...i 100% regret selling mine..

RX_AGENT
I don't think the theft of ITR's was that big of an issue here compared to the states. Hasn't really been an issue here until as of late. I've never heard of an ITR stolen here until this one.

92_WhItE_H23
i know of atleast 3 before this one.. it is a fairly big issue considering how rare they are to how many get stolen. But i dont see many newer ones getting stolen, the ones with the Anti Theft device.

i had my car stolen about 2 months ago , and since then i have heard of a lot more cars getting stolen, the fucked part is i am 99% sure of who toke my car, i called the cops and wut do they say? " ya there is probably nothing we can do about it". now since cops are not willing to do anything about it , i say we do " the guys who's cars got jacked" if u guys r up to setting up a meet and talking about wut we can do i am the first one to be there, hell i'll even have the meet at my house.

How are you 99% sure who it is?

KRS-13
Y'know, that 1% chance of a black hole opening and swallowing your car.

I apologize, I didn't mean to sound contracending in my prior statement. I realize having a car stolen is a terrible thing. I know I wouldn't want to go through it so once again, I am sorry.

Insomniac
I think I saw the ITR at a yard yesterday where salvaged cars are held before going to aution. Damn shame.
