| i have this alberta traiffic fines and demerits papers, there are some crazy fines out there, one is ENLARGED MUFFLER $115, does anyone know the maxium size? |

| there is no set guideline this is why people fight thier exhaust tickets.. anything larger then your stock outlet is considered enlarged and therefor illegal.. this is how the dodge rams get away with coming out of the factory with thier 4" tips lol |

| how do they know the factory size , i know a honda with a 4 inch tip might set them off but a skyline, they have know idea about it or is it up to the cop? |

Use common sense - if you think you fall under that infraction, so will the cop. |

| Exactly the reason I am running a cutout exhaust this year. "Theres a cop!" Into quiet mode... hes gone? Into 3" wide open + externally dumping wastegate... Hows that for loud? Probably not good for the environment either... :thumbup: |

External waste gates are technically illegal too, since they vent exhaust gases directly to the atmosphere. Probably not an issue in Alberta, though. |

Yeah thats if you don't have your wastegate recirculating into your exhaust.. But really how hard is that?? I'm going to be putting an external wastegate on a '95 TSi AWD in the next week or so and we will likely route it back into the exhaust (although the owner of the car is selling it so he may choose to just dump it to the ground lol...) My point is that just because its an external wastegate, it doesnt have to vent to the atmosphere. |

theres some hatred for me in this thread! the exhaust on my civic is bigger than 2 inches...even though im making i bought a new exhaust and it'll be much smaller.....and my external wastegate will be dumped into the atmosphere

I mean.. I got pizza delivered to my house today.. and the chick that delivered it had a Cavalier. with a bigger exhaust then mine.. and black bumpers, Big chevy symbol on the back window.. and stock wheel covers.. and it honestly looked like she had a lift kit on it....

| i just received one of those tickets last month lol the cop said ur allowed a maximum of 2.5 inches! i lauhged hysterically when I measured them at only 2.25 cant wait to see what the JP says about that cop! I know a few JP's that just throw my tickets in the garbage right away. The EPS are power trippers. Ive had over 4000 in fines on 3 diff cars and over 50% of fines were thrown out. |

| Do what I did and buy a twin tip exhaust no problems from the fuzz. But I guess it is the cool thing to do to put a big fart can on a Honda. That and lights on your wiper outlets. If it sounds fast it must be going fast :lol:. |

Lol.... it's true.. I was putting down a highway with a bodykit(well front anyhow) and a loud exhaust, SRT4 rear section on a stock Neon LE mid section.(No Muffler, no resonators, only a cat, the the SRT4 rear section actually amplified the exhaust volume on a NA car)
Anyhow I was putting down the highway doing 5 over, a cop passes head on, pulls a U turn and hangs 200ft behind me....
Stop sign for a left turn, he caught up, I was damn careful to keep the revs low, but at highway speeds it had a good drone. Get almost to town, ppl pass me car looks and sounds like it's moving, no way the car behind me is a cop... heh yeah right.
He got 4 speeders at once, they all pulled over.. and he wrote them all up. |

| When I imported my 180 there was some huge ass fart can on it and I took it off because first off I didnt want any more trouble than I already get for my car, second because it sounded horrible, and third because they look rediculous hangin out 4 inches from your body kit. My new exhaust is an upswept twin tip it looks and sounds good. |
