Never really got into this series as I was hardly ever home Saturday evenings when it shows on Space, but I just borrowed the season 1 DVDs from a friend and wow, I am glued to the screen!
Never seen the original Battlestar Galactica from the late 70's but I'm sure it can't compare to the new series. |

The original series was an attempt to cash in on the Star Wars Phenomenon.
The new BSG has some awesome writers at the helm, some of the stuff that can happen is so out there, but seems more suitable for BSG than something far out situations you'd see on Lost or Invasian (two of my other favs) The second season "part 1" was very good and the "part 2" season 2 is just as gripping.
I'm hooked as well. |

Its not even fair to compare the old show to the new, they're that different. The old show had its own charm. It was brainless escapist sci-fi action, and catered to all ages. Acting was subpar and the special effects were cheaply done and recycled often. (I still love to watch it though!)
The new show is very much an adult-oriented drama. I don't think your average "kid" would be able to follow the plot (at least, not the subtleties). And the amount of blatant sexuality in the show suggests right off the bat that it was never even intended for a child audience.
I'm hooked as well. |

| I just started watching this show, its not bad. Ive only see the first 3 episodes, hope the action picks up. I just download them, I have no idea when it plays. Its a decent show but as far as scifi's go I liked TNG better. |
