05_rsx_s
will i get a ticket from them?

i thought this place would have a better idea then any other forum.

MX5 Miata Guy
If your car was not originally equipped with HIDs, any aftermarket HID kit can net you a ticket.

night_font
my bro put 8k hids on his 03 duramax and they are of course aftermarket and since about 1yr he put them in he got no beef.

shorti
did you get a ticket in Whitecourt for it?
which cop was it?

05_rsx_s
its in order....

i was told it was not illegal...... so i just said what

hehe havent gottn a ticket yet but i am actually real afraid too...... the hell lets just order a set....

do u know the officers in whitecourt?

shorti
I'm not from Whitecourt, I just finished my EMT practicum there.
I know a couple of the cops there.

05_rsx_s

Why 8000K? That's sooo blue.

Most will agree that anything above 4300K isn't nearly as efficient at lighting up things in front of you.

TrevorK
If there is any tinge of blue, there's a chance of getting pulled over.

i didn't think it would be that bad...... i shoulda researched it a little bit more before it bought it......

95EagleAWD
Retrofit... :p

SilverNeonRacer
The regs says they blulbs must emit a white light and the bulb/lense must not have a glazing, so a 43000K HID should be legal.. I believe AlbertaRC said in another thread that they are fine.. upto 5000k, don't quote me... go search...

how are they gonna know?

icydude
my sister has a set of hid's out of a bmw. They are in her RSX and damn those are nice to drive with.

I would just hate to be the person driving towards her as they are in the stock non projector casings.

That would be bullshit, as many of the new high end cars(BMW,Nissan,Mercedes,Audi to name a few) come with these from the factory.

As I said, there is a chance you will get pulled over.

The cops use these laws as a reason to pull people over who are not driving responsibly, or for other reasons. They won't be pulling over a Porsche 911 for it.

Further, aren't the HIDs in the high-end cars actually white light? With the manufacturer to back the owner up, there is little chance of getting a ticket.

2ndgenlude
high end cars won't get tickets because they have proper cutoff, so you don't blind oncoming drivers.
aftermarket HIDS in stock housings just shoot light all over. they are brighter, and you will be able to see better but make sure you aim them the best you can.
i have 6000k's on order too.

They also don't get a ticket because the equipment is OEM, not aftermarket.

And good HIDs (4300 or so) are very, very white. Anything more than that, like I said above, is, IMHO, retarded... it just goes bluer and bluer and you can't see shit with 'em.

No-Pistons
2 years and one 50$ ticket so

Rich_A
If you have HID's without the proper projection type headlight to give cut-off .. you're likely to get a ticket reguardless of the color due to glare.

Soulfly
Unless you go to like 12,000K or something then it'd be ultra-violet light .. lol.. Then everything will Glow for you! :P

But I agree.. The more Blue you have.. the less you see..

No-Pistons
ya i wouldnt go anymore than 8000k honestly 8000 looks good but sometimes i wonder what a 2000k kit would be like

HAHAHA

SilverNeonRacer
I'm getting a 5000K kit.

quote:

Division 1
Headlamps

Location

6(1) A motor vehicle, other than a motor cycle or moped, must have at least 2 headlamps, one on each side of the front of the motor vehicle.

(2) A headlamp must be mounted so that the centre of the headlamp is not more than 1.4 metres and not less than 560 millimetres above ground level when the motor vehicle is not loaded.

(3) Subsection (2) does not apply to a snowplough truck.

(4) The light from a headlamp must be white, and the lens and bulb of the headlamp must be made of clear, untinted glazing.

(5) A person shall not attach or apply anything that colours the light from a headlamp to the headlamp, part of the headlamp or a bulb in the headlamps.

High and low beams

7(1) The headlamps on a motor vehicle, other than a moped, must comply with subsections (2), (3) and (4).

(2) A headlamp must have a low beam that can reveal a person or another vehicle that is at least 30 metres ahead.

(3) A headlamp must have a high beam

(a) that can reveal a person or another vehicle that is at least 100 metres ahead, and

(b) that does not shine in the eyes of an approaching driver.

(4) A motor vehicle must be equipped so that the driver is able to choose either

(a) to change the headlamps to high beams or to low beams by hand, or

(b) to switch to the control that automatically changes the headlamps to high beams or to low beams.

Says nothing about glare - Ok, it does, on Highbeams, but your supposed to turn them off when oncoming traffic is approaching. I dunno how often I get blinded by approaching relugalr low beams.... Oh yeah, every 2nd or 3rd car.

But.. one thing that'll help, supposidly with glare is get e-code lenses.
On my fifth I have "normal" conversion" kt and a E-code conversion kit.

The Normals are my inner set(thus my highs) and my outter set is the e-codes(thus lows and highs)

Thursday night actually, I re-aligned my head lights and hit the high beams and went for a walk down the street. The E-codes produced almost no glare compared to the normal ones. This test of course was done with wanna be H4 HID's The bulbs have a blub glazing, but when on give a 4000-4300K color like light.

Also the E-codes of course meet european standards, which call for a lower cutoff. North American stardards actually call for a higher cut off so you cn read those signes above the highway.(Or so I read a little while ago)

In myown experiance(with normal bulbs, and wannabe HID)

That In good weather, yes I see less with blue light producing bulbs, But I found in bad weather, like fog, and snow, it was easier to see with blue bulbs. I think it has to do with refraction.

On my Diesel D50, I ran a set of Hella auxilary lights, the duel bulb per housing kind. I ran the whites in normal weather and the blue bulbs in bad weather. In which case it's swap betweenthe 2 and see what I see more with.
