beside actually being in one of course....
Anyways driving to edmonton on highway 16a today around430ish a car pulls out to cross 2 lanes of westbound highway to get onto eastbound highway. He didn't have enough time to make it and a jeep nailed him. This is how close I was to getting it. I seen the guy get hit in front of me and then seen him spinning in my rear view behind me. I was not even a half second longer to leave to day I would have been hit as well. Right now all i can think about is the whole situation. How close it was all the different scenarios of me getting it and such. And the sound of the tires skidding and then the crash is still stuck in my head as well.
here are some pictures from my phone.
This is the truck on the shoulder of east bound traffic
And the car on the other shoulder of east bound traffic

So anyways careful out there driving this shit happens so fast. |

It's pretty damn scary with the roads how they are. All it takes is for someone else to have locked up their tires and all the sudden your lane is pure ice.
I have been a few feet away from a couple of accidents. One that particularly scared me was a woman running a red light at 118ave and Gretzky Drive. I was heading northbound and she blew through the light heading east. If I had been 2 seconds earlier she would have slammed right into the side of the propane delivery truck I was driving.
Instead she hit a van heading through the intersection, spun out and ended up on top of the median facing the other direction. I ran over to see if she was ok and she chucked a bottle of whiskey out the window onto the road. She was lucky to escape with only a cut on her head and to not have seriously injured or killed anyone else. I would have estimated her speed at well over 100 in the 60 zone. |

i almost caused an accident not long ago, i would have sworn on a stack of bibles his turn signal was on, but it wasn't, lights playing a trick with my eyes or something, so i start to cross the road and hes still coming at me, not turning. So i stomp the gas to get outta the way, and he slammed on the brakes.
I work with they guy, he told me it was him in the truck so i apoligized my ass off, i was shaking for half the drive home. incidently, i don't take that route back from work anymore, i take another one, even though its a little less convienent, its a little safer.
other that that i've had a few people this winter cut me off so i was hitting the brakes hard to slow down, then when i flash them or hit the horn they give ME the finger, like WTF, i'm doing the speed limit, all my lights work, and your giving me the finger after almost causing an accident.
argggg. At least i can admit when i almost cause a fuck up and apologize and change to ensure it doesn't happen again. |

Just in October a week after I got my new car. I was driving to work (Fox Creek) about 8:00pm down the Onoway road from St. Albert to the Highway (43 north) Its pitch black out and Im doing the speed limit cause I know there are always deer on that road. When out in front Im looking and something doesnt look right. Bt its so dark I cant see anything. I slow down a little cause Im still not sure but something isnt right.
Well as soon as my headlights hit it I can see it. A friggen grain truck driving like 30kms/hour, not a light or reflective surface on the back of it. It blended in totally to the night. I swerved with everything and let me tell you if I could have stuck my tounge out the window I could have licked his bumper. I got around him and got the car straightend out......Im so glad I had a vehicle that wa able to handle that hard of steering.
I was so pissed off, I would have piled into him doing about 80 to 90 km/h and not even see him. I was gonna stop and pull him over but I was so mad I figured it best I just keep going.
I should have taken down his plate and reported him to the police. |

| closest ive ever been in an accident was on 184th street and 137 ave. i was waiting for the light to turn green so i can turn left heading southbound of 184th street. when it turned green i was half way in the intersection when a guy ran the red light. if i had moved ahead a bit more, he would have probably clipped my bumper(or probably the entire right fender). and it was my first day driving my new car too |

Someone infront of me randomly decides to run a red light. Boom. They were stopped and all of a sudden they turn into traffic!
The other was a guy in a civic, he takes a left hand turn, but he takes it SOOOO wide that he hit 3 cars in front of him (you know, the people waiting for the light to change green!). There was a guy on a new CBR and he dropped his bike because of the sound. He was pissed. |

i was on 170st northbound, stopped at the light by the harveys. an eastbound minivan turning left onto 170th north turned in front of a taurus that was speeding west through the yellow light.
they collided and took out the first cars in all three lanes at the red light on 170th south. |

Closest was 2 times for me its hard to think which is worse so here goes.
First was about 3 years ago i was comin home from watchin my buddies hockey game. Had my 79 civic and was going up a long gradual hill on the freeway. I took a run at the hill but at the top i was doin max 100km/hr .. anyways this ford probe flew passed me but just as he passed me he lost control, i saw his back end kick so i hammered my brakes and he immediately cut across the front of my car, He then bounced off the median and almost hit the back of my car on the way back , i rate this fairly high because my 79 civic in an accident probably woulda = insta death.
Other was last year. and i cant tell the story because it will get the nazi stamp but it was pretty scary.
Either way i have seen a few but it wasn't really close call for me... |

man whats with all the idiots running red lights these days?! I was almost nailed too by some chick on her cell phone that ran a red light as I was turning left out of the WEM parking lot. honestly, ppl need to smarten up!
BUT my worst accident was about 4 1/2 yrs ago.. I was going southbound on 106st and as I approached the 106st and whitemud drive west intersection (right by the red robins) some crazy dude cut 2 lanes of traffic and turned left right infront of me. I t-boned him at 50km/hr and he ended up sliding into a car that was waiting to turn right..
funny thing is he tried to sue me!!
too bad there were like 10 witness' who saw him pull that bonehead turn.
props to him for trying though. |

Man, I have so many of these it's stupid. Always close calls, but only once did I ever have to make a repair. Let's see,
he time my mom turned the wrong way down at one way almost into an F150,
the time on my scooter where the 5 ton delivery truck turned out of nowhere into my lane and I had to pull a huge hard so I didn't end up under his front wheels, and I was so close I had to ducked my head under his side mirror ,
the time when I slid out in the parking lot being a retard and missed the concrete light pole by maybe 6 inches,
the time some girl in a truck slid through an intersection I was turning left at, I spun my rears as if to do a doughnut, as she went by I could have reached into her window,
the time some girl stepped out into 70kph traffic and my rearview mirror folded back on her arm, (actually I bet that hurt pretty good),
the time with my friend where some cab driver decided to open his door and get out when we were at his rear bumper, that cabbie can thank god for my friend's suspension mods,
the time in the mountains where a mustang couldn't make his pass up a hill and the semi beside him swerved to let him in with his far right tires over the edge,
the time some guy in a mercedes turned left against major traffic and the guy about 2 car lengths hit his passenger door and flew about 8 feet in the air,
the time I was riding past a stopped delivery truck when my spidey sense tingled and I slowed down, then the driver threw his tie down cable over his truck, across a full lane, and right across my chest,
holy fuck I just read all that back and first thing tomorrow I'm getting a bus pass. |

Almost eh?
Well I was involved in an accident on 34th and roper, I was heading east, on 34th and some old guy turned left infront of me.
There was a small break in traffic in the right lane, I was in the left lane, the left turing lane was full.
It's was rush hour.
I t-boned him, but managed to avoid his front pass door cause his wife was there, I managed to spin his car through traffic to the south side of the intersection facing north in the southbound lanes... basically where he was turning and my car spun bout 15-20degrees and I managed to keep my car from hitting other cars or being in the way of other cars.
If I hit him slightly different the 2 car accdient coulda been upwards of a 4-10car accident.
I have another.. but it too would get the nazi stamp.... |

Closest ?
i was In the far left lane on the whitmud going approx 95km/h, there is a large semi in the far right lane doing 80, maybe 85km/h. And there is a jeep between us. Somehow the jeep turned into the semi, bounced off in a spin and almost smoked my car while he was in a full spin. We could feel the air passing by from how fast he was moving. If i had been going any slower the both of us would have been wrapped around a pole or would have met the barrier.
Insane.. all i could see in my rearview was the jeep spinning and the semi trying to stop |

| Actually.. a moose ran into me once.. literally ran into the car i was driving.. think car going North, and moose going east, and then smacking it's fat head on the back end of the car. Does that count as almost? There was no damage, just a streak of moose down the side of the car that wiped right off? |

A deer did that to me once I had a streak of deer snot and blood going down the car. cept it actually put a dent in the door too.
Oh I hit a deer once in a brand spanky new 2004 Intrepid(rental car) almost no damage, slight ripple in the hood that they did notice when I brought it back, but they didn't say anything. It was real foggy and I was doing 40-60 witht he hazzards on so other cars would have a better chance of seeing me..... all of a sudden deer, slid up the hood, up the windshield, across the road.... it died, but had I been going faster it probably woulda came through the windshield, |
